The Electric State 2025 Movie Review

The Electric State is a new movie that aired on March 14 on Netflix. I watched the movie yesterday as i didn't even have a clue that it existed and the cast is quite good to be honest. We got Chris Pratt as Keats, Millie Bobby Brown as Michelle, the one and only Woody Harrelson, Ke Kuy Quan, Alan Tudyk and so on.

The Plot

So we got an alternative reality or future let's say, where people back to 80s, 90s and so on managed to not only build robots but to use these robots for pretty much every work that humans didn't want to do, like for example waiters and such.

At a certain point, these robots managed to evolve in terms of consciousness and demanded work-life balance, to have the option to do a job that they want and pretty much not to be a slave to humans.

This led to an all-out war between robots and humans. The robots at first were the winners but humans managed to find a way where they could divide their brain into 2 parts, one for work and one for fun, wearing a vr machine or something. With this discovery, they managed to create machines that could operate using their brain and this is how they won the war.

The robots, being the losers, agreed to have a small territory like a prison where they could only live. Humans using the VR like machines continued their lives. Michelle, an orphan teen living with a foster dad, gets visited by robot that is supposed to have the consciousness of her deceased brother. The robot informs her that he actually lives and that his body is kept in a certain area for experiments.

Thus, she takes a journey along with the robot, Cosmo to find her brother, meeting and teaming up with a smuggler (Pratt) and his robot!

Good and Bad

Now, to be pretty honest, the movie does not get that many great reviews. I don't know why that is the case but the reality is that it's at least better than the reviews. We got a great cast and nobody can say anything about their acting skills, if someone does he/she is biased, period.

The sceneries and aesthetics are amazing and the story is quite unique to be honest. It has that 90s feeling in terms of Robots and at the same time it merges the virtual reality world which is a new concept. That's what makes it unique. The characters and the fight scenes are also quite good.

The only thing i would say as a negative is that the plot is pretty much straightforward. Don't expect any plot twists in that movie. Also note, that you can easily watch with your kids. I believe that if that movie was out a couple of years earlier or decades it would definitely have a better rating. People having so many movies and series to watch are quite easily bored and i believe have even lost the way to judge, think and analyse a movie.

Based on the total reviews on Imdb the movie has a 5.9/10. For me, it's at least 7/10, even 7.5/10.

Human are smart and powerful than the robot. Nice write up, nice read. Thanks for sharing.

Lol, IMDB has been known to give unfair reviews to really good movies. I have since learned to see the poorly reviewed movies as they always end up a banger. As for the movie, it's no surprised that the humans won because unlike robots we evolve.
