Hive has become a Thievs Den: Let's change That

Hive is such an amazing place with such amazing people, but ofc people are greedy and try to take advantage of others to earn a few bucks a couple more. Even though i believe we have managed to get through a lot from back in the Steemit days, like bid-bots, abuse, fake accounts, vote for vote, influencers, Justin Sun, Koreans and the list goes on, somehow trouble always follows us.

So there are a lot of bad things going on, but i will speak in a few words about the 2 latest ones and one that has been basically going on for years. Ofc the result is that some people lost most, some people earned money at the expense of others and Hive in general is losing value due to the above.

BRO Token and Community

The Bro community was one of the strongest and most active communities here and maybe one of the oldest. In my opinion, it had a lot of smart people in it and the core of the community was freedom of speech.

The starting token BRO was one of the top tokens around Hive with huge value. It was like 1 BRO = 5 to 11 Hive. Behind the wheel was Ray whom everyone loved. Apparently, Ray had different plans. He wouldn't listen to anybody; he constantly created new tokens and sold empty promises to everyone.

Because people loved him, they believed him and kept investing or holding their tokens. At the same time, he asked some whales for loans that ofc he never paid back. A fun fact is that the second loan he asked was to basically pay part of the first one :p Talk about a genius :P.

Then, either due to his mental health issues, or because he planned to ( i still don't know what the truth) he started acting crazy, actually told people to sell their tokens as they hold now value, which people did, and still acting like that.

The sarade keeps on continuing through discord! Note that this is serious. There are people who lost a couple of $$, people like me who lost 200$-500$, others who lost 1000$-5000$ and even people who lost over 50000$.

Vibes Contest

Another quite active community that held a regular contest related to singing. If i am right, there was a certain theme, people who had a Hive account would sing and a judge would decide who would be the winner each time, who would earn some money.

Interesting concept, new people could get in Hive that way and talented people! Guess what happened, though. The judge, dmed a lot of people that participate in the contest, pretty much saying that if i make you earn that money if you give me a percentage and that's exactly what happened!

Ofc things like this sooner or later end up coming to light, especially when you randomly text people asking for these kinds of things. Some will have ethos and values. As a result, he earned some $$$, not a high amount or something, i believe less than 500$, he is now banned along with some others who helped him and as a result, the whole initiative is now down.

DHF

Last but not least is the DHF. This is by far the worst if you ask me, as there are thousands of dollars maybe even millions, lost that way. The ideas was to have a fund to help out some great ideas and projects that would bring value to Hive. You could post your proposal and if you gathered a certain amounts of votes ,your idea would pass and you would get the funding you asked for.

Here is where the problem lies, though. The voting system was based on how much HP you hold. So if 2 of the biggest whales are my friends, my idea would easily pass even if everyone else disagrees.

Also there is no accountability. So if i decide to pay a developer to build me something that "would help hive" and det a price of 300 HBD per day, while the real costs are like 10$ or 50$, i could earn way more just out of nowhere. Then if the project fails, well it failed, i don't have to even give the money back.

I heard there are some talks to change that but who knows what will happen and i prefer actions to constant talks. Some people say that Hive is done, i honestly don't know whether they are correct or not but i am still here and i intend to remain. For once, as a community we need to thing bigger and to thing how will grow Hive and ofc ourselves, otherwise we will keep on having events like these where Hive's price is getting lower and people lose interest.
