Humanidades e ingenierías (iniciativa)

Aunque acaba de salir una nueva iniciativa en la comunidad, no quería dejar de participar en la iniciativa pasada, pues, es un tema que me llama mucho la atención y como al final en la comunidad estas iniciativas siempre están abiertas, así que no hay limitante alguna en expresarme sobre un tema que ya paso.

Sin más preámbulo, hablemos sobre las ingenierías y las humanidades. A primera vista podemos pensar que por pertenecer a ramas del saber totalmente diferentes no tienen mucho que ver entre sí, cuando realmente tienen todo que ver a pesar de que las ingenierías respondan a las ciencias practicas y las humanidades a las disciplinas teóricas y que en sentido estricto no pueden considerarse ciencia en el mismo grado que las ingenierías, pero, no por ello están relegadas a un plano inferior simplemente son diferentes áreas del saber.

Aunque terminé estudiando filosofía, en mi adolescencia me gustaba la química y casi termino estudiando ingeniería agrónoma. Pero en fin, los ditirambos de la vida me condujeron a las humanidades y no me quejo, a pesar que quizá la salida laboral no sea tan demandada como otras disciplinas saber lo que sé y poseer el horizonte que poseo es algo que me agrada y me hace sentir feliz conmigo mismo.

Siento que la ingeniería independientemente que de cuál sea es el intento de aplicar soluciones prácticas a problemas de determinado momento histórico en determinada sociedad, pero, todo desarrollo responde al espíritu de la época. Pero, poder entender el espíritu de la época es propio de las humanidades puesto, que pueden hacerse las preguntas no con el fin de conseguir una respuesta inmediata, sino con la intención de comprender más a profundidad el por qué somos como somos en determinado momento histórico.

Pienso que mal se ha hecho en pensar las áreas del saber de manera separada, creo que hoy más que nunca debemos repensar los modos de interrelación entre las disciplinas científicas y las humanísticas. Creo que una retroalimentación de experiencias, información y enfoques es verdaderamente enriquecedora.

Hay un asunto que me preocupa, se trata esa facción del desarrollo por el desarrollo mismo, sin sopesar las consecuencias a corto, mediano y largo plazo de los desarrollos científicos y tecnológicos. Pero, no es que esto sea algo que no exista, afirmarlo sería ser un poco irresponsable puesto que sé de primera mano cómo hay desarrollo con enfoque humano, y no hay que mirar demasiado lejos. Investigando un poco el cómo nace blockchain, especialmente el cómo y el por qué nace Hive, me he dado cuenta que a pesar de haber un interés financiero el enfoque ulterior es realmente humano. Por ejemplo, el mismo @blocktrades ha afirmado que uno de sus objetivos es hacer de “Hive un entorno más atractivo para el desarrollo de aplicaciones innovadoras y descentralizadas.”

Como desarrollador y visionario, blocktrades tiene cosas muy claras, una de ellas es la importancia del desarrollo innovador y descentralizado, en este sentido, lo descentralizado es precisamente el punto de inflección en este momento histórico, ya que hemos llegado a un punto donde todo parece haber caído en pocas manos, hablo de los datos, la información, el dinero y el poder, y pensar en sistemas descentralizados en apostar por crear entornos realmente más humanos.

At first glance we may think that because they belong to totally different branches of knowledge they do not have much to do with each other, when in fact they have everything to do despite the fact that engineering responds to the practical sciences and humanities to the theoretical disciplines and that strictly speaking they cannot be considered science to the same degree as engineering, but, not for this reason they are relegated to a lower level, they are simply different areas of knowledge.

Although I ended up studying philosophy, in my adolescence I liked chemistry and almost ended up studying agricultural engineering. But anyway, the dithyrambs of life led me to the humanities and I am not complaining, although perhaps the job opportunities are not as demanded as other disciplines, knowing what I know and having the horizon that I have is something that pleases me and makes me feel happy with myself.

I feel that engineering, regardless of what it is, is the attempt to apply practical solutions to problems of a given historical moment in a given society, but all development responds to the spirit of the times. But, to be able to understand the spirit of the time is proper of the humanities since questions can be asked not with the purpose of getting an immediate answer, but with the intention of understanding more deeply why we are as we are at a certain historical moment.

I think that it has been wrong to think of the areas of knowledge separately, I think that today more than ever we must rethink the ways of interrelation between scientific and humanistic disciplines. I believe that a feedback of experiences, information and approaches is truly enriching.

There is an issue that worries me, it is that faction of development for development's sake, without weighing the short, medium and long term consequences of scientific and technological developments. But, it is not that this is something that does not exist, to state this would be a bit irresponsible since I know first hand how there is development with a human focus, and you don't have to look too far. Doing some research on how blockchain is born, especially how and why Hive is born, I have realized that despite there being a financial interest the ulterior focus is really human. For example, @blocktrades himself has stated that one of his goals is to make “Hive a more attractive environment for developing innovative and decentralized applications.”
