Pocos imaginarían -a principios de temporada- los Padres de San Diego estarían en la posición donde se encuentran: 4 juegos y medio detrás de los Dodgers de Los Ángeles. Primordialmente porque los gigantes de San Francisco y los Diamondbacks de Arizona se armaron hasta los dientes en la temporada baja y las proyecciones los daban por encima de los religiosos.
