Ayer se jugó la última jornada del campeonato 2025-2026 de la liga venezolana de béisbol profesional (LVBP), una liga que se mantuvo competitiva y donde la brecha entre el primero y el séptimo lugar de la tabla, fue apenas de 3 juegos. Así las cosas, repasemos la jornada. Las Águilas del Zulia clasificaron directamente al remontar un partido que perdían 5-0 en las tres últimas entrada y mandar a Caribes de Oriente al juego del comodín, con pizarra final de 14 a 7. Fue en el octavo episodio donde la emboscada de las rapaces con 9 anotaciones dejó sin opciones a los indígenas. En un juego donde ambos equipos incurrieron en 5 errores, Alí Castillo fue la máquina impulsora de los visitantes al batear dos cuadrangulares y producir 5 rayitas (incluido un grand slam en el 8vo.), en un juego donde desfilaron 15 lanzadores de ambos conjuntos. Con el triunfo, las Águilas cerraron en el 4to lugar de la tabla y los Caribes en el quinto, lo que les da derecho a ser home club mañana lunes cuando se realice el juego por el comodín.

The Águilas del Zulia punched their direct ticket by storming back from a 5-0 hole in the last three innings, sending Caribes de Oriente into the wild card showdown with a final score of 14-7. The turning point came in the eighth, when the birds of prey dropped a nine-run ambush that left the tribe with no answers. In a sloppy contest where both squads booted five plays, Alí Castillo was the spark plug for the visitors, going deep twice and driving in five runs—including a grand slam in that eighth frame—in a game that saw 15 pitchers parade through the mound. With the W, the Águilas locked down fourth place in the standings while the Caribes settled into fifth, earning the right to host tomorrow’s Monday wild card clash.
En Valencia, los Navegantes del Magallanes desplegaron toda su furia al bate para liquidar a los Cardenales de Lara, con score de 11 carreras a 5. con 16 inatrapables bateados, la nave turca metió el juego en el congelador al cierre del 5to. episodio con ventaja de 6-2, la cual no perderían en el resto del encuentro. Luis Sardiñas y Leandro Pineda fueron las bujías de los filibusteros, al impulsar tres carreras cada uno (incluyendo un cuadrangular de Sardiñas). El abridor turco José Suárez aceptó las 5 carreras hechas por los pájaros rojos y el bullpen navegante se encargó de no permitir más libertades en el resto del partido. La frustración de los guaros era tal, que el lanzador Edwin Escobar fue expulsado del juego -luego de aceptar 3 anotaciones- por pitchar peligrosamente a José Gómez. Con el laurel, los Navegantes clasificaron en el 3er lugar de la tabla (luego de permanecer la mayor parte del campeonato en el fondo de la clasificación, en una remontada espectacular) y Cardenales cierra como líder (con una campaña similar a los valencianos).

En un emocionante toma y dame, los isleños arrancaron ganando 3-0 en la mitad del cuarto capítulo, pero los felinos no se dejaron amilanar y remontaron con 4 carreras entre la finalización del cuarto y el sexto episodio. Los indígenas volvieron a empatar a 4 en el séptimo y la pizarra se mantuvo igual hasta el onceavo episodio, donde los Bravos se adelantaron con una rayita, sólo para morir en el cierre aceptando las dos carreras que le dejaron en el terreno. Gorkys Hernández fue el héroe que bateó el hit impulsor de la diferencia. Los aragüeños cierran el campeonato en la sexta posición y jugarán el partido del comodín versus los Caribes, mientras que los Bravos finalizan en el 2do. lugar de la eliminatoria.

Even so, the Leones stranded 11 runners and managed only 2 hits in 12 chances with men on. Meanwhile, the Bravos stay perched up top without breaking a sweat.The Tigres de Aragua clawed their way into the wild card game by walking off the Bravos de Margarita in 11 innings, 6-5. In a back-and-forth thriller, the island squad jumped ahead 3-0 midway through the fourth, but the cats refused to fold, scratching back with four runs between the end of the fourth and the sixth. The tribe knotted it at four in the seventh, and the scoreboard stayed frozen until the eleventh, when the Bravos pushed across a run only to get left for dead in the bottom half as Aragua plated two to end it. Gorkys Hernández played hero, lacing the game-winning knock. The Tigres close the season in sixth place and will square off against the Caribes in the wild card, while the Bravos finish as the second seed in the round-robin.
Y en un partido donde no se jugaba nada, los Tiburones de La Guaira concluyeron el campeonato con una victoria sobre los débiles e inoperantes Leones del Caracas (sí, frustración mediática del redactor), por pizarra de 5 carreras a 4. También fue un juego alternante donde los escualos se fueron al frente con tres rayas en los primeros 3 episodios, solo para ver como los felinos les empataban el marcador al finalizar el cuarto episodio. Una raya más por lado en el sexto (Tiburones) y el 8vo. (Leones), sirvió de escenario para el histórico y rendidor Pedro Castellanos, quien la mandó a volar en la apertura del noveno inning. Ninguno de los dos conjuntos mantenía opciones de clasificación, luego de los resultados del viernes. One run apiece in the sixth (Tiburones) and the eighth (Leones) set the stage for the ever-clutch Pedro Castellanos, who launched one in the top of the ninth. Neither squad had playoff hopes after Friday’s results. Tomorrow brings the wild card showdown, and the round robin kicks off Saturday, January 2nd of the new year.
