El miércoles ante unos 11.000 espectadores en Puerto La Cruz, los magallaneros dieron cuenta de los orientales por marcador de 3 carreras a 1. Fue un juego cerrado donde los brazos prevalecieron. El abridor turco Ricardo Sanchez volvió hacer de las suyas (como en todo el campeonato) al dejar solo en 4 imparables y una carrera, a la ofensiva caribe. Regaló dos boletos y ponchó a tres contrarios en cinco episodios completos de labor. El bullpen fue tan efectivo como el abridor y diseminó otros 4 cohetes, fusilando a 6 oponentes más, sin permitir rayitas. El siempre rendidor Tucupita Marcano Jr. fue quien encabezó la ofensiva marinera al empujar las tres carreras del equipo, con un cuadrangular en la apertura del cuarto episodio, para una ventaja definitiva que no perderían en el resto del encuentro.

Caribes de Anzoátegui se sacudió la mala suerte de encima y se llevó el primer encuentro en Valencia, por una pizarra de 9 carreras a 7. Habían llegado al encuentro barridos en Puerto La Cruz y el futuro se veía bien negro, pero los bates despertaron de un pírrico AVE acumulado de .222 con hombres en posición de anotar en los dos primeros partidos, a un robusto .366 durante éste encuentro. Y aunque la nave turca arrancó adelante con tres carreras en el cuarto, los orientales supieron emboscarles en el sexto con racimo de 6 carreras, tomando una delantera que jamás perderían. Aldrem Corredor impulsó 3 carreras y el productor del año, Hernán Pérez agregó dos más con cuadrangular, para encabezar la ofensiva indígena.
