Last night, I waited in front of my computer for a finance blogger to talk about the 15th Five-Year Plan. I suddenly realized this was already China’s 15th Five-Year Plan—and it was the first time I’d really looked into this important plan for the future.
Looking back, I’ve had many setbacks in my career. I used to think it was bad luck, but now I see: the real problem was that I didn’t know enough.
Our generation has lived through important times, seeing many great things our country has done. But we often pay no attention to big trends, miss many chances, and end up just watching our own lives pass by.
I once asked myself, "Which is more important—choice or hard work?" Now I have the answer: hard work is needed to get by, but picking a path that fits the times makes hard work work better. Being a regular person isn’t a problem; the sad thing is not using the era’s momentum.
In the next five years, I don’t want to just watch anymore. I want to take part. I’ll learn the directions in the plan, keep up with industry changes, and make sure every bit of my hard work follows the trends. After all, growing as a person isn’t like sailing alone. Only when I move with the country’s development will each step I take feel valuable.
