2026 的第一场雪 The First Snow of 2026 【中文/English】

The city finally got its first snow of 2026, falling from afternoon till night.
I grabbed a shared bike to the supermarket—not to buy anything, just to soak up this rare winter feeling. Up north, you don’t need an umbrella in light snow. It wasn’t too cold, so snowflakes melted right when they hit the ground. The road was just damp on my way there, but by the time I came back, a thin layer of snow covered car roofs and the sidewalk. The wind blew snow off the branches, and as I rode against it, one hand on the handlebar and the other catching flakes, my fingers were cold but I felt totally happy.
I passed kids skating on the river. I knew the ice probably wasn’t safe in this weather, but I envied their fun. Snow doesn’t come often here these days, even a light dusting feels special. By evening, people still hung around the park—not to walk, but to snap photos of the lake: half water, half snow. We see it every year, but we still wait for it every year.
The fountain was still running, and the Chinese-style pavilion glowed warm yellow in the dark, like a tiny lit-up palace. The light hit the lake: half golden ripples, half ice dotted with leftover snow. Snow dusted the rockery, and the old tower peeked through the bare branches, its snow-covered stones glowing soft white, standing steady in the cold night.
The snow made the city quieter, and the lights gave that quiet a warm touch.
