Life of a man - Do you relate.

Life has this funny way of keeping us on our toes. One moment, you feel like you’re finally getting it right, your plans are clicking, your confidence is high, and everything around you seems to scream “progress.” But just when you start to relax and enjoy that season of success, something unexpected comes knocking: setbacks, disappointments, and those little inconveniences that pile up until you’re questioning every decision you made.

The truth is, navigating the ups and downs isn’t just part of life; it is life. Nobody has it all figured out, and even the strongest of us have days when we feel like giving up. Yet, somehow, we keep going. We find lessons in the lows, strength in the struggles, and joy in the moments of breakthrough.

For me I’ve had my fair share of both the highs that make you want to throw a party, and the lows that make you want to disappear from the world.

Several months ago, I had no job. I was job hunting, sending different applications to different companies, some reached out to me saying they got the person they need, others, I did the first and second interview and someone else was picked when time to choose who they want, others didn't even reach out or say anything about the application that was sent, they were just mute and this got me thinking so much.

I had things I wanted to do as a man, and without a good-paying job, all those goals are just far-fetched dreams. I was at my lowest, and it felt like I would make it. I started keeping to myself, and when my face looked so rough because I hadn't had a decent haircut, I would stay indoors and not step out for weeks. It continued like this, but what kept me going was that I knew some people who had nothing in the beginning and later became of some importance.

At a point, I got an interview, went for it, and immediately after the test, the oral interview, and a meeting with other executive, they gave me an appointment later immediately because they wanted what I have, but their offer was too little for survival.

It was then that I knew I had something to offer that people wanted. I kept applying and finally got a better offer. I started working with a company on a different project from home, they are paying well, and they also have good benefits.

If I had given up and remained idle, no one would have cared about me, nor would they have wanted to associate with me. For anyone reading this, when you are at your lowest, that's when you need to work hard, and when you reach the top, you need to seize the opportunity and work harder.

Thanks for reading. My name is Fashtioluwa.

Accepting that ups and downs are a part of life is one way to help death with the ups and downs when they come knocking.

I remember a quote from John wick that says

those who cling to life die early and those who face life and it’s risk lives

You're right, giving up doesn't make things right. Most times we are rejected during interviews, but then we need to pick ourselves often and keep trying just as you did and you finally got a decent paying job
