Breaking Barriers: The Changing Face of Education in My Country.
Education is one of the most powerful tools for personal growth, societal progress, and economic development. It opens doors to opportunities, equips individuals with skills, and shapes the future of nations. Yet, the accessibility, quality, and inclusiveness of education vary greatly from country to country. In some places, the education system is a level playing field where anyone, regardless of gender, social status, or location, can pursue learning as far as their ambition and ability will take them.
In some countries, all education field are occupied by both gender and funny enough, even transgender people are in this field while other countries, it’s either some field are dominated solely by males or females, talk about my country.
In others countries, systemic barriers such as cultural norms, economic hardship, or gender discrimination still limit how far a person, particularly girls, can go in their studies. The balance between young boys and young girls in school often reveals deeper truths about equality, opportunity, and societal priorities. Understanding the state of education in a country is more than just looking at the numbers of students in class, it’s more about looking at where they will end, what they aim to be and if the system will allow them to achieve such goals.
Let’s talk about the educational system in my country, so we can streamline this topic to a particular point. I’m sure you’ll learn from this if you’re ready to read it through.
There was a time the educational system in my country was biased, it was appalling and this was due to cultural and traditional factors. Although, my country is an heterogeneous state, meaning there are hundreds of different ethnic groups. Each of this ethnics group have their own believe and this affects how they see each gender. Some believe girls education will always end in the kitchen, which is why they don’t put much effort into sending their female children to school or to get higher education, while some believe education is a taboo and both gender require it not.
As the year goes by and by, people started getting more smart, they started seeing both male and female making impact in different fields, this has now opened their eyes to know that both gender can do great in any field of study if they are allowed to.

Back in the days, the rate of boys going to school is always higher than that of the ladies because many people believe that it is a waste of money to spend on female education. The people who spend so much on the female children educations are the learned ones, as I said earlier people have gotten smarter and they know better.
In today’s worlds, some few people still believe spending on female education is a waste but currently, they are the minority group compared to 14 or 15 years ago.
Some people are good with their children having the basic form of education while others push further to higher levels of education. It is said to see that people don’t know the importance of education in the life of a person. Yes, a lot of things can be learnt from observation and workmanship but education makes it easier.
Education is no longer a privilege meant for a select few, it is a neccessity for building a balanced and progressive society. While my country has moved far from the days when cultural beliefs held back entire generations, there is still work to be done to ensure that every child, regardless of gender, has equal access to learning and growth. The progress we have made is a reminder that change is possible when mindsets shift, but the journey toward a truly inclusive education system must continue. After all, an educated nation is an empowered nation.

Everything has changed today and it’s so good seeing females going to school and are doing great in the field. But we still have some places where they don’t even want to hear such. Their females must stay back while the males get educated. I think they are still living in the world of ignorance and needs to be enlightened.
People still living in ignorance will never be able to make any change in their world
That's true, many families now see it as important to give their kids especially the education not minding the gender of the child. I just hope for more improvement in the system especially when it have to do with the quality because many kids graduate without knowing basic things they need to know. Thank you for sharing der
I hope more parent will see the way I see and allow each child the opportunity to education and not decide their fate because of their gender
Remembering how life was back then like that 10-15years ago you mentioned, it was still bad then.
Even some parent who would allow their girl child study do not support furthering more than secondary school level
Yeah
Very true
I know of a girl that sponsored herself to the university because her dad didn’t believe in female education
And I know of one doing PoS now because of same reason
Exactly education is no longer a privilege meant for a selected individual... Every individual has the privilege to Education.
Thank God for free eductions the government have provided
Just university that’s remaining to be free
