A Mistake That Cost Me Dearly Financially and More.

We all know how mistakes are made without us realizing until it has cost us dearly, and most times when we make this mistake in finance, we mostly know immediately. Some years back, there was nothing like digital currency, but in our current world, there are so many digital currencies known as crypto, and the truth is, they are the best to spend because you can send them to anyone anywhere in the world.

Just like during the EndSARS protest in Nigeria, people couldn't create an account to fund the EndSARS protest because it was a movement against the corrupt leaders of the country and police brutality. Any account created to fund this movement was closed down immediately, but with the help of digital currency, it was made possible.

One of the major issues concerning digital currency is that there is such a thing as a "transaction error," even when the funds include millions.

There was this particular day I wanted to send money from one of my wallets to another one, but the wallets are on two different devices, my phone and my laptop. The problem was, there was no barcode to scan, and the thought of copying the address and pasting it into my mail on my laptop, then accessing the address on my phone, never crossed my mind. So what did I do? I started typing in the wallet address on my phone one by one, like a person typing in an account number.

After I was done, I checked, and everything seemed correct. When I knew something was wrong was when it was almost 10 minutes and the wallet hadn't been credited. I waited for another 5 minutes, and nothing was happening. It was then that I had a panic attack because I sent all the funds in that wallet, which was $50 in total.

"Lord, please don't do this to me" was all I could say, but I think the devil got me already, and there was nothing Mi Lord could do. I did the right thing by copying the address and comparing it with what I first copied, then I realized there was a "small letter and capital letter W" mistake. I was pained and since then, I have never tried to make the mistake of typing out a wallet address.

The other digital finance mistake I made was when I made three transfers to a friend and got all the amounts wrong. I was meant to send 5000 naira or so; I sent 500 at first. When he called to let me know of the mistake, I made a wrong calculation and then sent 100 for withdrawal charges, still thinking it was 5000 naira I sent to him. He called my attention to it, so instead of doing another calculation, I just sent him 5000 naira and asked him to send me my balance. Easy.

Thanks for reading. My name is Fashtioluwa.

That's so sad, mistakes always happen but I'm glad you noticed your mistakes. Hope you were able to see the money back?

You could have send me that $50 but you refused now see.😂

Performing transactions digitally can be very tricky at times and that’s why we need to pay very keen attention.

And it was you I wanted to send that money to, too. I just didn't tell you the story so you won't be sad. I wanted to tell you one time but after I found out that you didn't care about me as much as I did, I just bottled it up... (Sad story)

Yeah, when doing things digitally, mistakes that can't be corrected sometimes happen.

Yeah, you don't learn "copy-paste" mistake twice. Reminds me of when I tried being smart sending to Binance. It was @deepcrypto then, but I spelt @deepcrpyto and burnt my money to the gods. I relied not on my brain no more since then.

🥲🥲😭😭😅😅😅😅😂😂😂😂
Yes, you don't make that mistake twice. Once bitten, twice shy, or how did they say it?
Like, even to send to Binance or anywhere and I can easily spell the wallet, I will just copy and paste. Even on Hive, people have long and complicated spellings of names. Oga, spell the name for me so I can copy and paste it.
