Electricity crises

Power supply is a highly essential resource needed by man. Not only is it necessary to brighten the environment and keep things lively, electricity helps to power many devices, appliances and gadgets.

Several jobs and vocations rely on a steady power supply to function effectively. For instance, hair barbers, hair salons, computer clerks, cyber cafe, laundry Mart', supermarkets, frozen food dealers and so much more all require constant power supply to function properly. But sadly not all areas have that steady power supply that is needed.

In the current community where I reside, the power supply is something else. There's no good thing to write about it at all and I don't want to pretend as if the power supply is good. They call it ”power holding” and it is true. I guess someone is holding the power and only releases it when he or she is happy.

The only time you enjoy power supply in my area is when they want to come and distribute bills and when they want to start disconnection. After collecting their money and every other thing, they would then go with their power supply till the next month.

Business in my community is not moving very well because of power supply issues. Most businesses need this power supply to make profit.

For instance, a businessman that is into frozen foods, needs power supply to keep the foods frozen. He might not be able to power his generator all the time especially when he is not making a lot of profit.

Without this power supply, the society will be boring. It's the power supply that makes the society lively and people will enjoy themselves.

Personally, I like it when there is power supply, even if I have what to do with it or not, I just want to be seeing the light in the bulb shining.

The most painful part of the whole situation is the tariff is high and we have no choice than to pay. How can we be paying for what we are not seeing nor using. That is why some communities do beat up this power supply workers when the come for bills.

The government should do something about this power supply because it is not funny any more. So many businesses are suffering because of this so call power supply.

If they have to privatize it, they should do so. Since privatization is functioning more than the government. The only problem we will have if it's privatized will be the tariff. The tariff will be at the high rate but that is good at least we will have constant light and it will not be difficult for us when we are paying the bills.

I believe with the privatization, the power supply will be constant and businesses will move on well. Life will not be boring, there will be people coming into the community to do business and there will be development in the community.

Government should consider the people that voted them into power by making sure the basic amenities are supplied to them, which power supply is one of them and by so doing, there will be no issue between the community members and the government.

Ah. Privatisation is no better than government. Over here it has been privatised and what has changed? Nothing. It got worse. Constant strikes. Increased rates. Long hours of no electricity. That’s what you will get if it becomes a private company.

The electricity system in Nigeria is privatised and it's even worse than when the government was in charge. Investors just come and milk the system since they have to bribe, pay enormous taxes just to operate properly.
