It's a Mindset π₯·

If you look closely at the picture, you'll see my aptly named Warrior Princess, @khaldeesi, in there with a big ol' smile on her face. This was her first year wrestling and she loves it! Well, mostly. They kept putting her against seasoned boys due to her aggressive nature and she didn't win any matches. It was hard to watch, but just like me, they believe she has pure talent and massive potential.
SAVAGE
That was the word used to describe her. Now, I've only barely touched on wrestling and I don't think she realizes I was a hard core champion. I even passed on over a dozen scholarships to enter the Navy from schools like Iowa, NDSU and Ohio State. If only, am I right? I wonder where I'd be had I not served, but, here nor there.
All that in mind, I hope she can see past what the coaches did by giving her real competition. I also hope she knows I'm gonna be rolling around with her to teach her a few different styles. Either way, proud she took the leap to try it at least. She was being herself and you better REMEMBER TO BE YOU! I always am, because self defense is offensive to those that would offend.

That's awesome! You must have been good to be offered by those schools. πͺ
It's crazy to me how popular wrestling has become. The high school where I work has about 60 boys and 30 girls on the teams.
!Pimp
At one time, I had the state record for quickest pins in a few different weights, had over a 100 varsity wins in high school and was undefeated my senior year. I was kind of a badass. Good to see they have opened the doors to girls. Wasn't like that when I was a kid. !PIMP !DUO !UNI

Very nice! My nephew is wrestling for the first time this year as well and it has been fun to watch him. He has a couple young ladies on his team and it is definitely infuriating to watch them. Half the time the tubby boys just basically lay on top of them and get the pin :P
Ladies have a very different center of balance. You ever try that stand against a wall and lift a chair bit? Only women can do it !LOLZ but after middle school, it is segregated by gender and I tell you what, if any boys claim they're girls or 'identify' as females and try to weasel their way onto the mat? I'll be having more than words with parents and coaches if she continues into high school and beyond. !PIMP !LUV !UNI
Edit: changed 'into' to 'onto'
Ah yeah, my nephew is in middle school right now, so it's all over the place.
That's great. I tried to get my kids into it but it didn't take. I was never a great wrestler myself. I only wrestled in the local PAL league, but I loved the sport.
What is a PAL league?
That's excellent, my friend! Wrestling can be a whole lot of fun, and it's awesome that she loves it so much. She'll likely become very proficient, very quickly! Although I never competed, I was always very good at wrestling, usually able to pin people fast, and yep, it was fun indeed! πππβ¨π€
It's an acquired taste. There has to be a warrior inside you to compete in self defense sports.
Indeed, though some seem to have a natural proclivity for it, and yes, I agree with that, the drive and determination have to be present. πππβ¨π€
