I'm sharing some photos from my recent trip to the beautiful city of Cienfuegos.
One of the great things about working in the arts is that I make friends in almost every province I visit. And that's something I'll always cherish. So, as soon as I arrived in Cienfuegos, a mutual friend of my husband and me took us for coffee and then to cool off at a café in the famous Terry Theater, the city's iconic theater.

Of course, you can't visit Cienfuegos without strolling along its Prado and taking a picture at the Benny Moré statue.

Cienfuegos has the longest Prado in the country.

Martí Park is the most important park in the province, and several others are located around it. of the institutional and foundational buildings of the province.

The Ferrer Palace is a house museum that serves as an example of what a typical home was like in the upper bourgeoisie that lived at the time of the Spanish colony.

But the most impressive thing is on the rooftop.

I'm talking about the viewpoint.

From here you can see almost the entire city and the bay's coastline. It's undoubtedly an incredible view and a must-see.

Of course, whenever I go to a province, I always have to visit the headquarters of UNEAC (Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba). I am the President of the Music branch of UNEAC in my province, and therefore, it is always a great pleasure to play the guitar and share my art with the artists of the province.

And, by the way, I'm also happy to share the stage and hugs with great friends who live in the province.

From that visit to UNEAC (National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba), the idea arose to visit the home of María Salas, the creator of Toqui, a very important figure for me.

It turns out that when my children were very young, I used to put them to sleep singing Toqui's song, and I always cried during the part that says, "and you'll never be alone again," because that's my promise to my children: I will never leave them alone.

María's house is a blend of personal museum and architectural and cultural pieces from almost all over Latin America.

These pieces range from ritual masks to Tiffany lamps and paintings by Guayasamín, to name just a few examples of the more than a thousand objects in the room.

The yard is another marvel. Even a pony lives there.

As a classical guitar teacher, visiting art schools is another must. For this reason, I offered to give an educational concert at the Benny Moré School of Art, where I performed the complete set of studies by Maestro Leo Brouwer.

I also spent time with the teachers and students of the school.

And I saved the jewel of Cienfuegos for last: its bay.

Every day we went for walks along Cienfuegos Bay. We even went to see the sunrise and sunset, two of the most special moments of the day, thanks to the beautiful spectacle of sunlight on the clouds and the sea.

It's no wonder this province is known as the Pearl of the South. It's architecturally and naturally beautiful, wherever you look.

Hola, amigos viajeros.

Comparto algunas fotos de mi más reciente viaje a la hermosa ciudad de Cienfuegos.
Una de las cosas buenas de trabajar en el mundo del arte, es que logramos tener amistades en casi todas las provincias a las que voy. Y eso es un detalle que siempre atesoraré. Por eso, en seguida que puse un pie en Cienfuegos, un amigo en común de mi esposo y mío, nos llevó a tomar café y luego a refrescar el calor en una cafetería en el famoso Teatro Terry, teatro insignia de la ciudad.

Por supuesto, no se puede visitar Cienfuegos sin pasear por su Prado y tomarme una fotografía en la estatua del Benny.

Cienfuegos tiene el Prado más largo del país.

El Parque Martí es el de mayor importancia de la provincia y alrededor del cuál están varios de los edificios institucionales y fundacionales de la provincia.

Como el Palacio de Ferrer.

La Catedral

El Banco.

El Museo Provincial, antiguo Palacio del Gobierno.

El Palacio Ferrer es una casa museo que funciona como una muestra de cómo era una vivienda tipo de la alta burguesía que vivía en la época de la colonia española.

Pero lo más impresionante se encuentra en la azotea.

Hablo del mirador.

Desde aquí se puede observar casi toda la ciudad y a la costa de la bahía. Sin duda, es una vista increíble y una visita obligatoria.

Por supuesto, siempre que voy a laguna provincia, siempre tengo que ir a la sede de la UNEAC (Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba). Soy la Presidenta de la filial de Música de la sede de la UNEAC en mi provincia y, por tanto, siempre es un enorme placer tocar la guitarra y compartir mi arte con los artistas de la provincia.

Y, de paso, también me complace compartir escenario y abrazos con grandes amigos residentes en la provincia.

De esa visita a la UNEAC, nació la idea de ir de visita a la Casa de María Salas, la creadora de Toqui, un personaje muy importante para mí.

Resulta que, cuando mis niños eran muy pequeños, yo los dormía cantándole la canción de Toqui, y siempre lloraba en la parte en que dice: y nunca más estarás solo, ya que es mi promesa a mis niños, nunca los dejaré solos.

La casa de María es una mezcla de museo personal, dónde hallamos piezas arquitectónicas y culturales de casi toda Latinoamérica.
Piezas que van desde máscaras rituales, hasta lámparas Tiffany y cuadros de Guayasamín, por solo poner unos ejemplos de los más de mil objetos de la sala.

El patio es otra maravilla. Hasta un pony vive en él.

Cómo maestra de guitarra clásica que soy, visitar la escuela de arte es otra de las visitas obligatorias. Por tal razón, ofrecí dar un concierto didáctico en la Escuela de Arte Benny Moré, dónde interpreté la integral de todos los estudios del Maestro Leo Brouwer.
Además, compartí con maestros y alumnos de la escuela.

Y dejé para el final a la joya de Cienfuegos: su bahía.

Todos los días fuimos a pasear por la bahía cienfueguera. Incluso, fuimos a ver el amanecer y el ocaso, dos de los momentos más especiales del día, gracias al hermoso espectáculo que ofrece la luz solar sobre las nubes y el mar.
No por gusto se me conoce a esta provincia como la Perla del Sur. Es una belleza arquitectónica y natural, donde sea que lo mires.
