Movement is the cheapest therapy… and I chose running

I really wanted to share something that’s been helping me in a very real way:

Movement changes everything.

And I don’t mean “training hard”, “being disciplined”, or living in the gym. I mean movement, in general.

The truth is that most of us are not struggling because we’re lazy. We’re struggling because we’re overloaded mentally, emotionally and physically. And when life gets heavy, the body starts paying the price.

Movement isn’t just exercise

When I say movement, I mean things like:

  • a 10–15 minute walk after lunch
  • taking the stairs
  • stretching for 5 minutes before bed
  • dancing in the kitchen while cooking
  • walking your dog or picking up your kids
  • doing a small “reset” lap around the block when your head feels full

Your body doesn’t need perfection...It needs consistency.

Even small movements are a signal to your brain: “I’m safe. I’m alive. I’m back in control.”

The real benefits (no sugarcoating)

Moving your body helps with:

  • mood (especially when your mind is too loud)
  • sleep quality (not perfect, but better)
  • energy (yes… even when you’re tired)
  • stress and emotional eating (because it reduces the inner pressure)
  • confidence (you keep promises to yourself)
  • momentum (one small win leads to the next)

To be honest...movement is self-care before it’s aesthetics.

But… here’s me pulling the blanket to my side: running is different.

Walking is amazing. Been doing long walks for years. Strength training is essential, too. But running… running does something else to me.

Running is...a mental reset. A “coming back to myself” moment...the one space where I’m not just responsibilities and deadlines. I’m just… me, breathing forward.

And one thing I learned the hard way: Running doesn’t start in your legs...it starts in your mind.

At the beginning, you feel out of breath fast, your brain starts negotiating...you think “this isn’t for me”. But then one day… it clicks! You realise: “Wait… I can do this.”

And that’s not just a running win... That’s an identity win!

If you’re starting: do it the simple way:

You don’t need to run for 30 minutes. Heck, you don’t even need to run 10!

Start like this:

  • Run 1 minute
  • Walk 2 minutes
  • Repeat 8–10 times

That’s it! No drama... No pressure...

You’re building lungs, joints, confidence… and consistency!

Final thought

If you’ve been feeling mentally tired, emotionally heavy, stuck, low energy, overwhelmed…Don’t try to fix your whole life today...Just move your body for 10 minutes.

Because movement is therapy.

And sometimes…It’s the beginning of a new version of you. And yeah..I’ll keep saying it:

If you’re curious, try running.
Slow… but try!

Oh, and don't forget to use the @actifit app with your movements and share about it :)

Love y'all!

Consistency is the key word there. Movement is life! Glad to see you running, I hope to increase my usual running distances this year. Not sharing the optimism on Actifit though, lost faith ages ago 😁

Hehehe actifit helps me posting more often 😅
