Animals, in general, should never be removed from their natural environment. Nature is where they truly belong and where they can live in balance, following their instincts. However, there are situations where this is not possible. Many animals suffer accidents, are injured, or become completely helpless, needing to be rescued and cared for by professionals until they are able to return to nature. In these cases, rescue is necessary and extremely important.

The problem begins when these animals spend too much time in captivity. Some end up losing the ability to survive on their own and become totally dependent on their caregivers, which prevents their reintroduction into the natural environment. In addition, unfortunately, there are cases in which humans hunt these animals on purpose just to sell them. Many wild animals end up becoming a source of income in the black market, being removed from their natural habitat and, in most cases, mistreated.

Here in Brazil, legislation against this type of practice has become increasingly strict, which is a positive development. I remember that a few years ago, when I went to the state of Alagoas, more specifically to Maragogi, I visited several establishments that kept wild animals, such as toucans, owls, among others. There was even a wildlife zoo. Over time, the laws became stricter, and many of these places were forced to stop breeding these animals.

One case that stood out to me was that of the Pet Silvestre Zoo. It was different from traditional zoos because it cared for animals rescued from situations of abuse and smuggling. The owners maintained the space with their own resources and donations from the public. People could interact with the animals, pick them up, and even pet them. Despite the good intentions, I was never entirely in favor of this intense interaction with the public. During the pandemic, the situation became even more difficult, as the place had to close and became dependent solely on donations. They even managed to survive the pandemic, but not the stricter laws, being forced to close and hand over animals that were no longer able to return to the wild.

Another famous case that comes to mind is that of the singer Latino, who had a pet monkey. From what we could see, the animal was extremely well cared for, perhaps even better than many people. It participated in shows and was part of the singer's routine. However, this was only possible because he had a lot of money and obtained all the necessary legal authorizations.

Even so, it is important to remember that all wild animals carry their instincts in their DNA. For example, even if someone raises a lion from a cub, with all the love in the world, that animal can attack its owner out of pure instinct. Therefore, regardless of the situation, wild animals should always be cared for by trained professionals, because, after all, they remain dangerous.

Animais, de modo geral, nunca deveriam ser retirados do seu ambiente natural. A natureza é o lugar onde eles realmente pertencem e onde conseguem viver de forma equilibrada, seguindo seus instintos. Porém, existem situações em que isso acaba não sendo possível. Muitos animais sofrem acidentes, são feridos ou ficam completamente indefesos, precisando ser resgatados e cuidados por profissionais até que tenham condições de voltar para a natureza. Nesses casos, o resgate é necessário e extremamente importante.

O problema começa quando esses animais passam tempo demais em cativeiro. Alguns acabam perdendo a capacidade de sobreviver sozinhos e se tornam totalmente dependentes dos cuidadores, o que impede a reintrodução ao ambiente natural. Além disso, infelizmente, há casos em que o ser humano caça esses animais de forma proposital apenas para comercializá-los. Muitos animais selvagens acabam virando fonte de renda em um comércio clandestino, sendo retirados do seu habitat natural e, na maioria das vezes, maltratados.

Aqui no Brasil, a legislação contra esse tipo de prática tem ficado cada vez mais rigorosa, e isso é algo positivo. Lembro que, alguns anos atrás, quando fui ao estado de Alagoas, mais especificamente em Maragogi, visitei vários estabelecimentos que mantinham animais silvestres, como tucanos, corujas, entre outros. Existia até um zoológico silvestre. Com o passar do tempo, as leis se tornaram mais rígidas, e muitos desses locais foram obrigados a deixar de criar esses animais.

Um caso que me marcou foi o do Zoológico Pet Silvestre. Ele era diferente dos zoológicos tradicionais, pois cuidava de animais resgatados de situações de maus-tratos e contrabando. Os donos mantinham o espaço com recursos próprios e com a arrecadação do público. As pessoas podiam interagir com os animais, pegá-los e até acariciá-los. Apesar da boa intenção, eu nunca fui totalmente a favor dessa interação intensa com o público. Durante a pandemia, a situação ficou ainda mais difícil, já que o local precisou fechar e passou a depender apenas de doações. Eles até conseguiram sobreviver à pandemia, mas não às leis mais rígidas, sendo obrigados a fechar e entregar animais que já não tinham condições de voltar à natureza.

Outro caso famoso que me vem à cabeça é o do cantor Latino, que tinha um macaco de estimação. Pelo que se via, o animal era extremamente bem cuidado, talvez até melhor do que muita gente. Ele participava de shows e fazia parte da rotina do cantor. Porém, isso só foi possível porque ele tinha muito dinheiro e conseguiu todas as autorizações legais.

Mesmo assim, é importante lembrar que todo animal selvagem carrega seus instintos no DNA. Por exemplo, mesmo que alguém crie um leão desde filhote, com todo carinho do mundo, esse animal pode atacar o próprio dono por puro instinto. Por isso, independentemente da situação, animais selvagens devem sempre ser cuidados por profissionais capacitados, pois, além de tudo, eles continuam sendo perigosos.
