The role of a true teacher goes far beyond simply teaching a subject in the classroom. Even though, in theory, their authority is limited to the school environment and class hours, the influence of a good teacher easily transcends these boundaries. The best teachers I had throughout my academic life were precisely those who cared about me and my classmates in a broader sense, bringing to the classroom reflections on life, human values, and everyday situations that were not included in the course syllabus.

When I was in elementary school, I remember well a teacher named Janete, who truly cared about her students. She cared so much that she would visit students' homes and talk to their parents, seeking to better understand each family's reality. In one of these situations, we organized a food drive to put together a basic food basket for the family of a classmate who was going through difficulties. Each student contributed what they could, and together we went to Rosivaldo's house to deliver the basket. This gesture, encouraged by teacher Janete, remained in my heart and taught me that we should help those most in need, especially those close to us.

Another example that marked my journey was that of a technical course teacher, who also did much more than just teach the subject matter. He often began his classes with reflections on responsibility, maturity, and the importance of always seeking personal and professional development. He talked a lot about entrepreneurship and financial education, always in a practical and easy-to-understand way. I clearly remember when he gave the example of buying a pack of candy for ten reais and showed how it was possible to multiply that amount by reselling it, making learning something real and applicable to our lives.

Teachers who play this broader role, going beyond traditional teaching, end up being remembered forever by their students. However, over time, it has become increasingly difficult to find professionals like this. This is not only due to the devaluation of the teaching career, but also to the lack of interest of many students, which makes the teacher's job even more difficult. In addition, low salaries and working conditions require a great emotional and psychological effort from these professionals.

Teachers should be much more valued by society. After all, all well-paid professions, such as doctors, judges, and engineers, have been taught by a teacher at some point. Teaching is also one of the few professions where work does not end when the school day is over, as teachers take activities, plans, and concerns home with them. Even so, it is a career that many avoid pursuing precisely because of the lack of financial and social recognition. Most of those who remain in the profession do so out of love for teaching, especially at the beginning of their careers.

The work of teachers is still not properly valued by society because its results are not immediately apparent. The fruits of this work emerge over time, in the human, ethical, and professional development of the people who have received their teachings. I am very grateful to all the teachers who have been part of my life and who have taught me much more than just school content, contributing directly to the person I am today.

O papel do verdadeiro professor vai muito além de apenas ensinar uma matéria dentro da sala de aula. Mesmo que, na teoria, sua autoridade esteja limitada ao ambiente escolar e ao horário das aulas, a influência de um bom professor ultrapassa facilmente esses limites. Os melhores professores que tive ao longo da minha vida acadêmica foram justamente aqueles que se preocuparam comigo e com meus colegas de forma mais ampla, trazendo para a sala de aula reflexões sobre a vida, valores humanos e situações do dia a dia que não estavam previstas na ementa da disciplina.

Quando eu estava no ensino fundamental, lembro bem de uma professora chamada Janete, que se preocupava de verdade com seus alunos. Esse cuidado era tão grande que ela chegava a visitar a casa dos estudantes e conversar com os pais, buscando entender melhor a realidade de cada família. Em uma dessas situações, organizamos uma arrecadação de alimentos para montar uma cesta básica para a família de um colega que estava passando por dificuldades. Cada aluno contribuiu com o que podia e, juntos, fomos até a casa de Rosivaldo entregar a cesta. Esse gesto, incentivado pela professora Janete, ficou marcado em meu coração e me ensinou que devemos ajudar os mais necessitados, principalmente aqueles que estão próximos de nós.

Outro exemplo que marcou minha trajetória foi o de um professor do curso técnico, que também fazia muito mais do que apenas ensinar o conteúdo da matéria. Muitas vezes ele começava as aulas com reflexões sobre responsabilidade, amadurecimento e a importância de buscar sempre o desenvolvimento pessoal e profissional. Ele falava bastante sobre empreendedorismo e educação financeira, sempre de forma prática e fácil de entender. Lembro claramente quando ele deu o exemplo de comprar um pacote de balas por dez reais e mostrar como era possível multiplicar esse valor revendendo, tornando o aprendizado algo real e aplicável à nossa vida.

Professores que exercem esse papel mais amplo, indo além do ensino tradicional, acabam sendo lembrados para sempre pelos alunos. Porém, com o passar do tempo, tem se tornado cada vez mais difícil encontrar profissionais assim. Isso acontece não só pela desvalorização da carreira docente, mas também pela falta de interesse de muitos alunos, o que torna o trabalho do professor ainda mais difícil. Além disso, os baixos salários e as condições de trabalho exigem um grande esforço emocional e psicológico desses profissionais.

Os professores deveriam ser muito mais valorizados pela sociedade, afinal, todas as profissões bem remuneradas, como médicos, juízes e engenheiros, passaram pelas mãos de algum professor. A docência também é uma das poucas profissões em que o trabalho não termina quando acaba o expediente, já que o professor leva atividades, planejamentos e preocupações para casa. Mesmo assim, é uma carreira que muitos evitam seguir justamente pela falta de reconhecimento financeiro e social. A maioria dos que permanecem na profissão faz isso por amor ao ensino, principalmente no início da carreira.

O trabalho do professor ainda não é devidamente valorizado pela sociedade porque seus resultados não aparecem de forma imediata. Os frutos desse trabalho surgem ao longo do tempo, na formação humana, ética e profissional das pessoas que receberam seus ensinamentos. Sou muito grato a todos os professores que passaram pela minha vida e que me ensinaram muito mais do que apenas o conteúdo da escola, contribuindo diretamente para a pessoa que sou hoje.
