Vinland: The new world and the son of the betrayer.

Hello everyone.

The main story of AC Valhalla is almost over. To be more exact, I would say that there are only two chapters left of the main story. This time we will travel to the lands of Vinland, also known as the new world, in search of Grom, son of the traitor Kjotve the Cruel. Recall that this character was the one who razed the clan of Eivor and now we go in search of his son to pay for the sins of his father.

The first thing I have to do is to go to the dock of the settlement where the captain of the ship that will take me to Vinland is waiting for me.

After several weeks of traveling by sea and agreeing to travel as an unarmed slave, we finally arrived in what many call the promised land.

Stepping off the boat, Eivor is only dressed in some simple clothes and no weapons, or at least that's what they want us to think, because if you look at his left hand, he still carries the hidden blade that Basim gave him. A mistake?

While touring the new settlement, I discover that the only person who can tell me where Grom is is a certain Olaf, but that the night before he had escaped.

Without wasting time, I start to follow the trail of the fire and, at the same time, I explore the new territory from the heights.

I did not have to go very far to realize that the Saxons had not been the first people to inhabit these lands, for in the distance I could see a village much older than the settlement.

10.png

Not knowing if they were hostile, I approached them to engage them in conversation, but all to no avail, as they had their own language. Luckily, my crow caught their attention and they were friendly. Then I was able to try to understand them; one of the villagers recognized my speech and led me to Olaf, who was hiding behind a waterfall.

Olaf tells me that the reason for his escape and imprisonment was Grom himself and that he would gladly tell me where he is or at least give me information that would help me find him. The only problem is that unarmed and unarmored I wouldn't get very far and, unfortunately, the locals trade in resources and not coins, so before I set out on my journey I should go hunting to equip myself a bit better.

The idea of going well equipped didn't seem bad, but as soon as I got a bow and an axe I went straight to the first enemy camp in search of Grom's orders, which indicate where they are.

Little by little I gathered more resources and increased my weapons and armor until I reached the last camp. Here I found Grom, the traitor's son, and after eliminating a large part of his army, I killed the one who once tormented my people in the company of his father. In his hands I found an orb that glowed and spoke, but of this we shall know soon, for it becomes relevant soon.

For now I will return to the village to inform him that the reason for his fears lies dead along with his men and future plans. Olaf thanks me and says that, in honor of such a victory, the villagers were going to organize an evening celebration which, please, stays with me.

I am glad I accepted, for what could have ended as a boring boat ride, ended as a beautiful evening of storytelling in which one by one told their story. This was indeed a great ending, showing what I saw as a cultural exchange.
