[ES/EN] The Game Awards 2025 - Winners | Free Games – Epic Games Store: Hogwarts Legacy - Dead Cells

The Game Awards has already taken place, and it was great, with interesting announcements and a very balanced competition among the nominees. Clair Obscurity: Expedition 33 swept the awards. But before the broadcast, the first Mystery Game from the Epic Game Store was revealed. This game, also announced at the event, can be claimed until December 18, 2025, and in addition to giving away another game for mobile devices, the winners were:

Hogwarts Legacy

Hogwarts Legacy for PC is an open-world action RPG developed by Avalanche Software and published by Warner Bros. Games under the Portkey Games label. Originally released in February 2023 for consoles and PC, and later for other platforms, the game is set in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter during the 19th century, long before the events of J.K. Rowling's books. It's a game I haven't played because I'm not a big fan of the saga, although I did like the movies and I haven't finished the books, but now that it's free it's a good time to try it, both for fans of the saga and for those who aren't fans but like RPGs or open-world games where encountering familiar references catches the eye.

Un juego que no he jugado porque no soy un gran fan de la saga, aunque si me gustaron las películas y no he terminado los libros, pero ahora gratis es un buen momento para probarlo tanto para fanáticos de la saga como para los que no son mas pero les gusten los juegos RPG o mundo abierto donde encontrarse con alguna referencia conocida llame la atención.

Dead Cells

Dead Cells for mobile devices is an acclaimed rogue-lite action-platformer with metroidvania elements, developed by Motion Twin and ported to mobile by Playdigious. Originally released for PC and consoles in 2018, it arrived on mobile devices (iOS and Android) in 2019. In this game, you play as a failed experiment that must fight its way through an ever-changing castle. It is famous for its frenetic combat, permadeath progression, and pixel art style. The publisher of the mobile version is Playdigious.

El juego Dead Cells para dispositivos móviles es un aclamado Rogue-lite de acción plataformerp con elementos metroidvania, desarrollado por Motion Twin y portado a móviles por Playdigious. Lanzado originalmente para PC y consolas en 2018, llegó a dispositivos móviles (iOS y Android) en 2019. One of the best Rogue-lite games out there, one I've dedicated many hours to and that I can now play on my phone whenever I have free time.

I had already mentioned that I would like The Last of Us Season 2 to win this category because it was a very good series, but it had many detractors and in the end it was the one that won, beating A Minecraft Movie.

One of my surprises was that Hades 2 won because first-person games usually take priority, but I liked it.

I thought they'd give it to Fortnite, but this time they finally gave it to No Man's Sky, and hopefully this award will calm them down and they'll make another game and stop releasing so much free content, which now seems like revenge against all the criticism they received when it came out.

Although he believed that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 wouldn't win and that Hideo Kojima would win with Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, to his annoyance, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 did win. The last time he didn't receive the recognition he wanted, Kojima left Konami and founded his own studio. It's very likely that we'll see the Kojima Awards in 2026.

OPINION

The Game Awards had everything going for it in terms of nominations; it could have been the best. But for me, there were categories that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 shouldn't have won, and others it deserved to win but didn't. There were also games that should have won some categories or received more recognition. The announcements and trailers were very good, and the pacing of the event was good, although it suffered from the usual problem: the closer it got to the GOTY winner announcement, the more tedious the announcements and winners' speeches became.

Los The Game Awards tenían todo en nivel nominaciones; podía ser el mejor. Pero para mí hay categorías que no debieron ser para Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 y otras que no gano si las debió ganar. Además de que hubo juegos que debieron ganar algunas categorías o ser mas reconocidos. Y a nivel anuncios y trailers estuvo muy bueno, el ritmo del evento fue bueno, aunque sufre lo de siempre que entre mas se acerca la hora de presentar al ganador del GOTY se hacen mas pesado los anuncios y los discursos de ganadores.
