Since Frontier arrived, I have been playing a lot to complete the Foundations set collection. For several seasons, I have been in the highest league of this format, and I set the goal of reaching the Top 50, which I discussed in Frontier – My Road to the Top 50. I started playing with level 3 Archons and the units they allowed, but with the arrival of Jackpot cards and my desire to open Foundations Packs, I eventually upgraded all Archons to level 4. I also raised many other cards to their maximum levels, which allowed me to reach the highest point I’ve ever achieved in this format last season.

In the past season, I crossed a personal and competitive boundary that boosts my relationship with the game: I managed to enter the Top 50 of Frontier mode, reaching the coveted Top 20 rank. Along with it, I earned rewards of 5 Foundations Packs and 10 Entries. I tried to climb even higher on the last day, but when searching for battles, a message appeared saying no opponents could be found. After several attempts, and realizing that climbing further would require winning many battles and searching for hours, I decided to stop and be happy with my current position. This achievement is more than just a stat; it’s a manifesto on the importance of tactical skill in an environment where resources usually dictate the law.

Frontier mode is, in many ways, the purest testing ground for a player. By focusing on the Foundations set, it eliminates much of the noise from years of accumulated editions, but it presents a unique challenge: the optimization of limited resources. Entering the Top 50 under these conditions requires more than just throwing cards on the board; it demands a deep understanding of synergies, anticipation of the enemy deck, and impeccable mana management.

My ascent to the Top 20 was a validation process. Often in TCGs, people mistakenly believe that victory is proportional to the number of cards or maximum levels you possess. However, my journey proves the opposite. I achieved this goal without having all the Foundations cards and without all my assets at max level. This technical handicap turned every victory into a lesson in efficiency. When facing a rival with better numerical stats, your only weapon is tactical superiority.

It’s also worth noting that while my cards weren't all at max level, many were, especially low-rarity ones. Higher-rarity cards like Epics and Legendaries mostly only see a slight stat increase at max level and don't gain new abilities. This is a difference compared to other formats where cards have more levels and can undergo more abrupt changes, sometimes making lower-level versions even more strategic.

También hay que aclarar que, a pesar de no estar en sus niveles máximos, muchas de mis tarjetas sí lo estaban, en especial las de rareza baja. Las tarjetas de rarezas superiores, como Épicas y Legendarias, en su mayoría solo tienen un ligero aumento de estadísticas en su nivel máximo y no ganan habilidades nuevas. Esto es una diferencia con otros formatos donde hay más niveles para las tarjetas y puede haber cambios más abruptos, donde por esos mismos cambios incluso es mejor usar algunas tarjetas en niveles inferiores.

Frontier vs. Wild

This achievement in Frontier shows that my skills are quite good when I can focus on a limited number of variables and a card pool similar to my opponent's. However, in Wild and Modern formats, as I am more of a player than an investor or collector, I don't have all the resources others possess, so I haven't gone further than Champion III. Instead of being discouraged, this makes it clear: if I want to reach the top, I must save to have more cards available and learn to effectively use the newest sets.

Este logro en Frontier deja ver que mis habilidades son bastante buenas al poder concentrarme en una cantidad de variables limitadas y con una disposición de tarjetas parecidas a las de mi oponente. En cambio, en los formatos Wild y Modern, al ser más un jugador que un inversor o coleccionista, no tengo todos los recursos que otros poseen, por lo que no he llegado más lejos que Champion III. Reaching the Top 20 in Frontier is the fuel I needed for my next stage in the game. It has given me the confidence to know that, under equal conditions (or even at a disadvantage), my analytical capacity is competitive. I am not a player who gives up for lack of a Legendary card; I am a strategist who uses what is at hand to take down giants.

I will keep learning and using my rewards to close the gap in my collection, with my eyes set on the day when my teams are as unstoppable as my tactics, and moving to Top Champion in Wild and Top 1 in Frontier becomes, finally, an inevitable reality.
