New Bread... Great Advertising But...

I like breads, and I like to try new breads. Based on my experience, there are more disappointment than happiness in trying new breads. It is not because I aimlessly buy some random breads, it is more because new breads usually are similar to trial and error recipe, some think it is good and some do not think that way, that's why they are introduced to market with a promotional campaign.

So last week when I walked by this bread store, I saw this promotional campaign. It was a big one, so they had this banner everywhere.

It was a soft bun, well I liked soft bun so I thought ok let's grab some of them. Honestly I did not like this kind of campaign which give discounted only if you bought some of them. In this case, we needed to buy 4 of them to get a discounted price.

When I arrived in front of the soft bun tray, honestly I was disappointed. They claimed to have 4 flavor of soft bun, original, chocolate, strawberry and caramel. What I found there only two flavors, the original and chocolate.

This condition gave me a bad feeling. I knew well if they did not have two flavors, it meant those two weren't selling well. Or in fact this new soft bun could be a bust!

For anyone who have cards, they should have already known that it would not come in cheap. I do not talk about the price, buying car itself is already expensive but it is not about buying it, it is more on supporting its maintenance.

So I decided to see other option I could grab from that bread store. It was a pity if I only grabbed one soft bun. My eyes caugh some Grains Pan Bread. I was not a fan of them, but sometime I needed to eat some bread to fight my acid reflux. This kind of bread worked well for my stomach.

In the end, I bought these two breads. They costed me more than 3.5 USD, so it was not a cheap one. This bread store was a well known chain in Jakarta, in the past they were very famous and you needed to que to get their breads. Somehow they did not sell well recently, or maybe I was outdated and did not know the exact sales.

TL;DR , it was a bust. Taste was far below my expectation. I cut the soft bun into pieces because I wanted my mom to try it too. She said the same, it was a lame one.

Anyway this is not a bad or black campaign toward that bread store. If you are in food and beverage business, you need to make new innovation and variation over time, and it is a necessity to introduce new products in order to maintain your customers. However, some of them end up as failure...

So nothing to worry about it, it is not a big deal anyway. I believe their main line products or popular items are still selling well.
