Equalizer Nerfs Sneak Attacks

Greetings Summoners

It's been weeks since my last Splinterlands posts. My health has been in a bad shape, so I have been away from writing on Hive. However this week I have got better so it's about time I get back sharing my splinterlands journey.

Today I am sharing my experience about having a battle with Equalizer Modifier. Equalizer will make all units in the battlefield having the same health point, or the same base health before any buffs or debuffs. This ruleset definitely makes small units become big, and vice versa.

However I will put my emphasize on the certain attack, the sneak attack. Sneak attacks are effective if we want to put down opponent backline units, bypassing their tank first. Backline units are tend to have lower health, so they are easier to be killed. Although some are not, of course there will be exception for certain units.

With Equalizer rises backline units' health, they get harder to be killed and make Sneak Attacker harder to kill their targets. It will create a big question here, will sneak attackers still be effective in this ruleset?

The Battle

Rather than talking with long words, I prefer to pick a battle here and we talk about it. Of course the battle must be relevant with the topic, Equalizer modifier and should be evenly strong between both side.

I pick this battle because it is a Brawl one. It's been ages since I have posted any brawl battles. Another consideration is that they use Katrelba Gobson, one of my favorite gladiators.

Katrelba Gobson is very strong regarding she strikes twice. Her main weakness is low health point, so getting her during Equalizer seems a good move because the modifier will negate her biggest weakness. However at the same it will negate her strongest point, killing weak backline units.

let see will she still be lethal here or not...

  1. They have 4 melee damage, 6 magic damage and 3 range damage. It is a combined 13 damage per round. My team has 9 melee damage, 7 magic damage, and a range damage, a combined of 17 damage per round. Head to head wise, My team hit a lot harder.
  2. They use countering melee unit for their backline defense, a smart move but it goes completely useless regarding I have no sneak attackers. I use corrugated healing, which is the best defense when all your units have decent health points.

So overall my team is slightly better, but it is not about better or worse, but we want to see if sneak attackers still good during this ruleset.

In round 2, the battle starts to develop a big gap between my team and theirs. They already lose two units at this point, and my team are still in our best condition.

They use Husk the Hunter to help Katrelba Gobson attacking my backline, but it seems useless. Maybe not that useless but they are losing their momentum for sure.

Round 4 is the last round. They are losing badly in this battle. Katrelba Gobson and Husk the Hunter have failed to kill any target. My team? Win with full lineup attached, none of us gets killed in this battle.

I would not say Sneak Attacks are useless during Equalizer modifier, but definitely they get nerfed badly. They small and easy to be killed targets are gone, all backline units get fat with meat lol. So during this modifier, you need to think twice or modify your current meta if you are still fixated going with sneak attacks.

Your backline target will be harder to be killed! it is the same as nerfing down the sneak attacks...

That's for today splinterlands post, have fun with your battle!
