Don't Let Your Main Unit Gets Killed First

Good day Summoners

How's your day today? I hope you are having a good Splinterlands battle day today, with a good winrate and good RNG result. I am having a good Splinterlands today, not winning greatly but I have enough time to play well today.

Right now I am sharing you guys one of my thought about Splinterlands battle here in this post. The title above has said it all:

Don't Let Your Main Unit Gets Killed First

During battles, I often see people losing their main units or core units too easily which cost them their battle. I know they are not bad players because most of the cases came from misreading the modifiers or rulesets. Of course there are cases because they meet extraordinary opponents, or just by luck they get countered badly, but most of the case... it's clumsiness lol.

Anyway what is the main unit or core unit anyway? It is something that build up your meta in the line up, and mostlikely they have the highest mana requirement. They could be a tank, a damage dealer, or some healer, but you need them as the core strength of the team.

Most of the time, core units are a couple of the strongest units in your line up. There are times I see people coming with 6 all strong none the least in their line up, but again. In most cases they are two or three units that most important in your team. So when one of them die too soon, your team strength drops significantly.

So let see the battle about it!

I pick this battle from Modern Format Gold League. My opponent is @artofkylin , he is a great player and I believe in this battle he gets clumsy and forgets about the battle modifiers.

The battle modifier is simple, we only have one.. it is TARGET PRACTICE, which gives all range units and magic units a sniping ability. This modifier will make the first non melee unit after the tank position will die first, because every non melee units will aim at him/her first.

So let see how this will go first during the Ambush Round:

  1. They have 9 melee damage, 2 range damage and 4 armor strike. Combined all, they become 13 damage per round.
  2. My team has 3 melee damage and 18 magic damage. Total damage my team deliver can summed up to 21 damage per round. My attack power is almost doubled theirs.
  3. Technically my team will win instantly unless they could keep up with faster team. Well they should be able but their line up is not suitable for the ruleset.

If there is a mistake to be identified here, that would be his Aerial Shieldmaiden placement. She is the only non melee so she will be aimed by all my mages.

She is one of the core unit regarding she has the second biggest attack after Commander Slade. So her placement is the mistake here, maybe he should pick other unit or a couple of units as sandbags or punching bags.

How about my core units? All of them are hiding behind Abyssal Elemental. if they are bound to die, they would not die in the early rounds.

In round 2, I have lost my tank and they have lost their main tank and the Aerial Shieldmaiden. At this point, it would be impossible for them to catch up with the gap created by the huge difference in our fire power.

Round 4 is the last round. As you can see above, my core units are still intact, Warborn Shaman and Mindless Thrall. They are not in their best shape or perfect condition, but not losing them become the decisive condition that lead my team to victory.

If my opponent doesn't use Aerial Shieldmaiden, the battle would go more evenly regarding they use a wonderful summoner, Elias Max Pruitt. I am not saying they could win too, it's hard to win against me one of the coolest players here lol. But the main point is, don't let your main unit gets killed first!

That's for today splinterlands post, have fun with your battle!
