Just Keep Swimming!

It was my intention to write a "Sunday Reflections" post yesterday several days ago, but now I find myself trying to gather my thoughts on Friday morning instead.

In a sense, that is a pretty accurate depiction of life these days!

Meanwhile, we suddenly found ourselves in the middle of a region-wide power outage on Tuesday that started about 10:00am and lasted till late afternoon, so I started trying to type out a post on my phone instead of at my computer. I basically hate typing on a phone... showing my age!

That also seemed like a pretty accurate depiction of life these days!

Then I developed a really bad toothache, which made it really difficult to concentrate on anything beyond getting my eBay orders processed and packed at a much slower rate than usual.

So much for "Sunday Reflection." Instead I am pondering the unlikely reality that this might be the first time in my 8 1/2 years here that I have gone ten days without writing a post.

It is not the first time in my many years on this planet that I have felt like I just can't keep up with life anymore, and there seem to be more and more "random obstacles" on the path than I remember from days gone by. Of course, this sort of feeling has happened on multiple occasions before, and then very quickly led to my needing to reinvent myself for the umpteenth time.

Of course, I am also increasingly aware of the fact that the aging process means that we become less and less capable of juggling as many of life's proverbial balls as we could when we were young. My juggling is still pretty good; my concentration isn't what it has been.

Mostly, I am just tired, in that bone-weary way you get when it has been too long since you last had a break, and you're aware that no breaks will be coming your way anytime soon.

Is it just the way of life, as it is, in the USA in 2025?

In some ways, I suspect it is.

I was watching a YouTube clip earlier which was made by someone investigating the public rollout of "driverless trucks" across parts of Texas and the south.

Seems that the thing many people insisted "couldn't happen" is — in fact — now happening. It is not changing jobs in the trucking industry, it is simply removing them. These people have nowhere to go, except maybe burger flipping at McDonalds.

Oh. Wait. That's also becoming automated.

I scratch my heads as the proponents of automation — which definitely has its positive sides — seem to have their heads in the sand about the fact that people need to have a JOB in order to have INCOME in order to be able to BUY the goods and services more efficiently created by automation.

Much as I would like to get paid for sitting and staring at clouds drifting by, I just don't see that happening. At least not anytime soon. And particularly not in a nation like the USA where we loathe anything that even remotely resembles government involvement or "social benefits."

The old "Learn to code!" slur is also increasingly irrelevant because — guess what — AI can write its own code, often more effectively than human coders, and certainly a lot faster.

Oooops, smartass coder, why don't you learn to grow tomatoes?

Of course, complaining doesn't really get us anywhere, either... but at least it feels good to point out what strikes me as pretty obvious.

Evidently not so much to many...

Thanks for stopping by and have a great rest of your Friday!

Sure will be some necessity, just not the way the governments propose... A reconstruction of the whole capitalistic system would be needed.

A limit set to revenues and incomes to build a fond that serves to feed every single human for free. Since this is a important human right, not set in place yet.

There are some ideas in my papers already on this, i just can really think on the how to implement this into the already fluffed up minds of our enslaved society.

Thanks for reminding me to take that thought work to finish this once and for all. :smirk:
