Star Trek Fun

Greetings and salutations Hivers. Today let’s go into another Three Tune Tuesday post.

As always, thanks to @ablaze for making this series. Lots of people participate in it! Follow the tags to find a ton of good music recommendation.

Today I have another mix of different genres. Trying to keep switching things up to stay interesting.

Kirk & Khan - Have I Still Got the Magic

As a onetime Trekkie, I can’t put into words how much I love this.[1] Star Trek II is absolutely the best Trek film and is the only Trek film that even crosses over and has non-Trek appeal as a great action suspense movie. This song and video plays on both the greatness of one of the main scenes in the movie and on the cheesiness of Shatner’s acting.

Enjoy!

And… with that song in my head, I couldn’t resist searching for more Trek parodies. I didn’t know what I expected, but it wasn’t the dozens of AI songs. Some weren’t bad, with people having some clever lyric ideas and using AI to complete the rest of their parody vision, but most were not so good. I settled on two others that seemed to be non-AI. At least mostly. See what you think.

Klingon Style

This is honestly pretty terrible, but it’s also so bad it’s great. The people behind it seemed to have just used their kids and friends for parts. And one troublesome Tribble. I’m not going to look up if the Klingon translation is accurate, but it sounds pretty good to me.

Anyway — not good, but fun!

Picard - All I Want for Christmas

This was put together 5 years ago, so whoever did this wouldn’t have had access to AI and instead had to crawl through all TNG for these clips. That’s dedication. If you think you know where it’s going from the first verse, just keep watching.

So what’s your favorite?

  1. I’m not sure if I can still claim that title. I grew up on TNG (new ones every Monday and reruns Tuesday–Thursday) and TOS reruns (on Fridays), loved all the original and TNG movies (well… overall), enjoyed DS9. But… nothing since. No, that’s not true — I’ve enjoyed some of Strange New Worlds, but I also haven’t taken the time to watch much of it.  ↩

O wow that was a lot of work indeed! I've watched everything except for TOS, I think I liked TNG the most but also enjoyed DS9 and Voyager. The newer old school Enterprise was also fun to watch 🙂 I guess I'm just a Star Trek nerd for everything BUT the original which just looks too old for me being an 80's kid

I thought sure you were going to include some songs from the musical episode of Strange New Worlds. I've been going through the latest season over the past week or so. I think I am about halfway through now.

Wow, some cool finds today. I was a big TNG fan as well and remember watching to original Star Trek reruns growing up. Shatner was really good at overacting, that's for sure. He did get better as an actor as he got older though. Khan was a great movie, one that was done right. Great video pick on that one!

That last one is impressive, talk about a serious labor of love going through and picking out all of the clips. It was hilarious! Being a TNG fan I would probably pick the last one. But Khan, what a great movie!
