Why the Season of Hard Work Should Not Be Wasted

There is a stage in life I like to call the age of labour. That period where your energy is still strong, your mind is active, and life is quietly asking one important question: what are you building with this time?

I didn’t always think deeply about this. When you’re younger, time feels endless. You assume there will always be another chance, another year, another opportunity. So it becomes easy to delay effort.

But as I started growing older, I began to notice something uncomfortable. Time doesn’t move slowly just because you are unprepared.

My parents understood this better than I did. My father was always serious about work. Not in an unhealthy way, but with a clear sense of purpose. He believed certain years in life are meant for planting, learning, and building foundations.

He used to say, “There is a season for everything. Don’t waste your working years acting like life will wait for you.”

That line stayed in my head longer than I expected.

The age of labour is not only about physical work. It’s about putting effort into becoming useful. Learning skills, improving your mindset, gaining experience, building discipline, and positioning yourself for the future.

Many people misunderstand hard work. They think it only means being busy all the time. But effort without direction can become exhaustion. What matters is intentional effort.

There were times I wasted energy on things that added little value to my growth. Looking back, I realize how easy it is to confuse movement with progress.

My mother always reminded me that strength is temporary. Not in a negative way, just reality. The energy you have now may not always feel the same later. So the years where you can push harder, think faster, and recover quicker should not be taken lightly.

Of course, this doesn’t mean life should only be work and no breathing space. Rest matters too. Health matters. Relationships matter.

But I believe the season of labour should be respected.

Because one day, you will want comfort. You will want stability, options, and freedom. And many of those things are often connected to what was built earlier.

Sometimes I imagine the future version of myself looking back at this current season. That thought alone is enough to make me take my time more seriously.

The truth is simple. The age of labour is not forever.

And maybe that is exactly why it matters so much.

What you choose to do in this season can quietly shape the quality of the next one.

In life everything has its time and once the right time passes, then difficulties will begin.

It is true that opportunity is said to be once because, you can only make use of it once you have it and once you don't have it then, you will know that you cannot make use of what you don't have.

Keep the good work sir.👍✅✔️
