The Real Joy of Making Money
People say money is not everything, but if we are being honest, money is something. In this world, to live well, to eat good food, to take care of family, to enjoy small comfort, you need money. But the real joy of making money is not only about spending it, it is about that feeling of independence, that feeling that you worked for something and it paid off.
I remember the first time I made my own money, it wasn’t even much, but the happiness was too big inside me. I kept checking the alert like ten times because I couldn’t believe it. That small money made me feel like I could do anything in the world. It wasn’t the amount, it was the feeling that I earned it with my own hard work.
The joy of making money is when you can buy something for yourself without begging or explaining to anybody. Even if it is just a plate of rice or a new shirt, the happiness hits different because it came from your sweat. Sometimes even when the money is not plenty, the proud feeling is plenty.
For many of us in Nigeria, we know how hard life can be. So when you hustle and finally see result, the joy doubles. When you take care of your parents or siblings or even surprise someone with a small gift, it feels good. You feel useful, you feel important. Sometimes you even cry small tears because you remember when you didn’t have anything.
The real joy also comes when you solve problems. Maybe you were broke and worried yesterday, and today you got paid. That relief is like medicine suddenly headache disappear, stress reduce, stomach even start to feel hungry again. Money doesn’t give happiness completely, but it gives peace of mind, and peace is part of happiness.
But one thing I learned is, the joy of making money is sweetest when you earn it in an honest way. Quick money might come fast but it doesn’t give the same peace like money you worked for with your heart.
In the end, money itself is not the joy the joy is knowing you are capable, that you can build your own life step by step. That is the real happiness in making money.
