Visit to the Sand Sculptures of Jesolo

A few weeks ago I went to the Vidotto Museum, which I also made a post about. Since it was on the way, we also stopped by the seaside and, to my surprise, I saw that the sand sculptures of Jesolo were there, an exhibition that attracts many visitors every year. I admit that I had never seen them before and I was extremely surprised, both by the beauty and the quality of the works, and for me this also represents a form of art. I discovered that this year's theme was "The Power of Change", a very interpretable topic with various facets, which the artists represented in different ways.

The first work was "Growth: The Shadow Between Us" by Susanne Ruseler and Hanneke Supply. It represented the concept of accepting ourselves and others, including the parts that we normally try to hide.

Another interesting work was "Adaptation" by Radovan Zivny. The message in this case was that in life we must adapt to difficulties and changes, just as sand takes shape under the sculptor's hands.

The third one, which was the one I liked the most, was "Becoming" by Sue McGrew. The figure represented had an open chest from which a moth was emerging, symbolizing an inner rather than physical transformation. A representation of personal change.

It is worth noting that all these works are displayed publicly in the square, there are no tickets to pay and they are not inside buildings. Overall they were very pleasant to observe and they make you reflect on how skilled these artists are to be able to create these works starting simply from sand and water, and then in the end they are still destined to disappear, unlike other types of art.

The third one had a great load of attention to details, and also the most beautiful too. These artists are geniuses. Wow.

What beautiful and meaningful sculptures you have there, @davideownzall. They are all really important for reflection in our daily lives and are beautifully photographed too. They are very symbolic and I like them. 😊

I think I've only seen a sand sculpture or two in Amsterdam. I really admire the artists as most likely it's not easy to work with sand.

These are wonderful and I'm glad you posted them.

I also admire them to make something like this out of the sand, imagine all the work and then the wind will blow it up...

when i saw them i thought they were worth a post

There's something truly special about sand sculptures: they're made from a simple, fragile material, yet they manage to convey messages, emotions, and great artistic skill. The first time I saw something similar was a sand nativity scene. Thank you for sharing these photos with us.
