Ancient Fair of Arsego - 2025

Every year in October, in the heart of the small village of Arsego, there is an event I absolutely cannot miss: the ancient Fair of Arsego; it’s true that it takes place in a small town in the countryside, but it is one of the largest and most important fairs in the region.

Here you will find not only stalls selling local and non-local products, handmade items, trinkets, and plenty of food stands that will make your mouth water, but also a medieval village, a didactic farm, saddle baptisms, events throughout the day, and rides.

There are street artists too: circus performances, acrobatics, juggling, theater, and magic. There is also a workshop on the casting and minting of ancient coins.

There are medieval parades with drummers, archers, and performers in historical costumes in the streets of the town center.

There’s a kind of roundabout swing, pushed by volunteers, with the time set by an hourglass (@erikah these pictures are for you!)

But you also find that thing you won’t find at any other fair: zoofishing! By buying lottery tickets, you can win animals (chickens, rabbits, quails, parakeets, goldfish, geese) and this year the grand prize was a blue Ara parrot!

And then there’s the food! Between fries, sandwiches, sweets, pancakes, and ice creams, you can’t help but try everything. I went for a sausage sandwich with fries.

As every year, there are lots of rides and the Ferris wheel, which we took a ride on, and I’m sharing photos from the top, as well as the many rounds the kid had on the other rides.

In short, the Fair of Arsego is not just a party, it’s a tradition that makes itself felt, here you have fun, eat like there’s no tomorrow, and learn something new.

Ahh, lovely photos! That looks like such a nice big fair, and I love that wooden swing. What cute animals!! I think I would have bought a lot of lottery tickets, as I would’ve loved to win the grand prize, that beautiful blue ara parrot!
I'm sure you would have loved the crochet items too! Some are on penultimate picture
Awww, grazie mille Davide, sei molto gentile! Voglio andare! La prossima volta chimammi.
Ok, jokes aside, I love this type of fairs and there are so many goodies there.
I'm surprised to see animals at every fair. Is that a thing in Italy? The bunnies are adorable and the swing is next level to mine 😂
Hah that one is again next year but we have Saint Martin fair in a few weeks!
Not a thing of whole Italy really, north, center and south are very different like night and day, it's just a thing of us northerners (north east), lot of farm culture outside the city and since fairs have all agricultural roots here, animals are often involved
I knew you would like the swing 😂
Che carino!!! Tanti animaletti e cose da fare!!! 😁

This sounds very interesting and I loved the photos you shared :)
I am not sure if it would be allowed here to have animals in a fair, but I hope that they receive good homes!
I hope for them too, if I had a garden I would give a try, if I get a chicken she would live well with me
