Of all the perfect afternoons I can imagine, there's one that always wins. It's the one I spend with my son. No matter what we do, as long as it's with him, the afternoon already has something special.

But if I have to choose a specific example, I'm reminded of one of those afternoons that you keep in your memory forever. It was one when we went to a river. Not too far from the city, but far enough for everything to change. We arrived, found a quiet spot, and sat down on the bank.

There, in the stillness of nature, we did simple things, but beautiful and necessary. We laughed at silly things. We played at throwing stones into the water. We went in for a while, even though the water was cold. We talked about her school, her friends, her life. Without rushing, without interruptions, without screens. Just the two of us, one of her cousins, and the sound of the river in the background.

That afternoon reminded me of something important: that we don't need grand plans or exotic destinations. That sometimes the best things are the simplest. That the stress of urban life, with its noise and its urgent demands, fades away when you're in a place where the only thing that matters is the moment you're living.

And as we walked back, already at night, with my son asleep, I thought that as long as it's just the two of us, any afternoon will be perfect. It doesn't matter if it's by a river, in a park, or at home. It doesn't matter if we laugh or if we're just in silence. The perfect thing isn't the plan, it's the company. It's knowing that he's okay, that I'm okay, that we're together.

That's why, of all my perfect afternoons, this is the one that lingers most often in my heart. The afternoon with my son. The simple afternoon. Our afternoon.

De todas las tardes perfectas que puedo imaginar, hay una que siempre gana. Es la que pasa con mi hijo. No importa lo que hagamos, mientras sea con él, la tarde ya tiene algo especial.

Pero si tengo que elegir un ejemplo concreto, me viene a la mente una tarde de esas que guardas en la memoria para siempre. Fue una en que nos fuimos a un río. No muy lejos de la ciudad, pero lo suficientemente lejos como para que todo cambiara. Llegamos, buscamos un lugar tranquilo y nos sentamos a la orilla.

Allá, en la quietud de la naturaleza, hicimos cosas sencillas, pero hermosas y necesaras. Nos reímos por tonterías. Jugamos a lanzar piedras al agua. Nos metimos un rato, aunque el agua estaba fría. Conversamos de su escuela, de sus amigos, de sus cosas. Sin prisa, sin interrupciones, sin pantallas. Solo nosotros dos, un primo suyo y el sonido del río de fondo.

Esa tarde me recordó algo importante. Que no necesitamos grandes planes ni destinos exóticos. Que a veces lo mejor es lo más simple. Que el estrés de la vida urbana, con sus ruidos y sus urgencias, se desvanece cuando estás en un lugar donde lo único que importa es el momento que estás viviendo.

Y mientras volvíamos, ya de noche, con mi hijo dormido, pensé que mientras seamos nosotros dos, cualquier tarde será perfecta. Da igual si es en un río, en un parque o en casa. Da igual si reímos o si solo estamos en silencio. Lo perfecto no es el plan, es la compañía. Es saber que él está bien, que yo estoy bien, que estamos juntos.

Por eso, de todas mis tardes perfectas, esta es la que más se repite en mi corazón. La tarde con mi hijo. La tarde simple. La tarde nuestra.
