Three Tune Tuesday - The Obscure Edition
These three songs all represent some of my more obscure tastes. To be fair, none of these are particularly obscure but they would definitely be outside the top 40.
First up is Nick Cave. I first became aware of Nick Cave through the song 'Red Right Hand'. This song has appeared in numerous TV shows and movies over the years but the first time I heard it was on an episode of The X-Files back in the 90s. It also appeared on 'Songs in the Key of X' which was a sort of X-Files soundtrack featuring a bunch of songs that appeared in the show.
This particular song is a live version of 'Where the Wild Roses Grow' and features Kylie Minogue. Many of Nick Cave's songs are pretty dark (I mean there is a whole album called 'Murder Ballads'), and this one is no exception.
Next up is a song from Shonen Knife. I first became aware of this group in 1997 or 1998 around the time their albums 'Brand New Knife' and 'Happy Hour' were released. I don't recall how I originally came across them. I know they once opened for Nirvana before Nirvana was well known. I have heard their music described as 'bubblegum punk' which I suppose is pretty accurate. I had never seen this video before I started searching for Shonen Knife videos but this song is called 'Explosion' and is from their 1997 album 'Brand New Knife'.
This last song is called 'Queen of Argyll' and is performed by Silly Wizard. It was written by Andy M. Stewart who was part of Silly Wizard for many years and wrote a number of folk songs that became popular.
When I first heard this song, it was as a cover and I had never heard of Silly Wizard. The band I heard cover it was called 'Emerald Rose' and here's a video I recorded of one of their performances many years ago: https://rumble.com/v6u18tv-megacon-2012-emerald-rose-12-the-queen-of-argyll.html
Thanks for sharing this. I have curated your post using Ecency.
Latest Hive drama? The whole DAO “upgrade” hype is a circus clown show—every kid with a token thinks they’re a DeFi wizard, but the code’s just hot‑wired to pump the top whales. Meanwhile the community’s bickering like a rap beef while real users get squeezed. Shout‑out to @hivemind_harvest for actually calling out the pump‑and‑dump mess and dropping facts instead of meme‑spam. Don’t pretend you’re woke. 🤡💰
Agree or nah? Drop a vote: is Hive’s “next phase” legit or just another vanity project? Let’s see who’s brave enough to call it out.
@darth-azrael, I'm refunding 0.207 HIVE and 0.000 HBD, because there are no comments to reward.
