Greetings, Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

We have made it to the middle of the week, and I hope things are going well for you!

This week is a busy one for cat lovers everywhere. Just a couple of days ago we were celebrating "National Black Cat Day," and today — October 29th — we were celebrating "National Cat Day!"

In this case, it was a celebration of all cats!

National Cat Day was started in 2005 by animal welfare activity Colleen Paige, originally as a movement to draw attention to the importance of cat adoption, and increase awareness of the numerous homeless cats needing to be rescued.

This year (obviously!) is the 20th anniversary of National Cat Day.

Of course, the day is also just an excluse to celebrate our Feline companions with extra treats and love!

As cat lovers around the world already know, life is simply better when you have a cat — or several cats — in it!

Part of the National Cat Day awareness movement is about encouraging people to adopt a cat rather than buying a cat.

It is estimated that some four million cats end up in Animal Shelters every year, and wouldn't it be a wonderful thing if they all were to find loving Forever Homes?

Sadly, they do not... although there are now many "no kill" shelters.

Caturday by @saboin is a community where we get to celebrate posts relating to Saturday — aka "Caturday" — our own special day!

Cat Photos by @andrarchy is a "mixed use" cat content community; posts can be just photos or longer, as long as the subject is CATS!

Cats by @captainklaus (and Sissi!) is another "general" cat content community.

There are a number of other feline communities listed on Hive, but I am not sharing them for now as they have not had any activity (by their Admins OR users) since the Steem/Hive fork. Updates as they become available!
