Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

It's another lovely summer weekend, and since we have made it to Saturday that means we have made it to Caturday, my favorite day of the week!

Something is happening outside!

I hope this past week has treated you well and that everybody in your family is happy and healthy.

Yesterday we had a lot of excitement around here because the Hoomans were having a tree service come in to cut down some larger dead trees in the yard.

Shangri in the sun!

These trees had died due to a hard freeze a couple of years ago, and the Hoomans were worried that the next severe storm would bring them down on the power lines across the street. Because they were in an awkward location on a rather steep slope and leaning over the public street it was clearly not to do-it-yourself project.

We got to watch the proceedings from the windows including the excitement of one of the Hoomans working from the tree service climbed up the biggest dead tree and started cutting it down from above. It was quite fascinating to watch!

What's happening?

With these trees gone we not only have a better view of what's going out at a distance, but there are going to be more afternoon sunny spots since the trees won't be in the way anymore.

Of course there will be fewer opportunities for bird watching up close and personal, but that is more than made up for by being able to see more things out in the distance.

Smudge gets a treat!

Today, I have been helping the Dad-Hooman with some of his photography that he needs to do for things he puts on a website to sell. I know he is much better off with me to supervise!

We are actually supposed to have a couple of days with much cooler weather and the potential for rain — which is very unusual for us for this time of the year — but I don't mind too much because sometimes the house gets really hot... even too hot for a cat!

The king of relaxation!

On Monday, the Mom-Hooman is heading out to Seattle to visit the Daughter-Hooman and her toddler son. The Mom-Hooman really gets into the whole "playing grandma" thing!

Based on the pictures I have seen it seems that tiny humans grow a lot slower than tiny kittens. I don't know too much about it, though!

We cats always find interesting places to take naps, proof of which is that recently Nala has taken to napping on top of the Mom-Hooman's gardening hat!

Otherwise, we are just having peaceful summertime around here, with not much going on on most days. We don't talk much about the cryptosphere anymore because the Dad-Hooman says it's too depressing and pretty much a "lost cause." But we do keep the cat blog going, and keep adding to our Hive Power!
