Greetings Fabulous Felines and Hoomans of Hivelandia and surrounding communities!

I hope your week is getting off to a good start! Around here it was a busy day, with the Mom-Hooman packing and then leaving to go to Seattle for four days.

Now things are very quiet around here, because it is just us and the Dad-Hooman in the house.

Even though she will be spending time with the new grandbaby, we know that the Mom-Hooman will be missing us cats, because cats just make life better!

It is funny how Hoomans always talk about dogs being "man's best friend", and yet it somehow is cats that have become the unofficial mascots of the Internet!

There are far more cat videos than dog videos online, and far more cat pictures as well. Of course we mean no disrespect to dogs and dog lovers, and we have often had both cats and dogs living here together.

There is a lot of misunderstanding about cats, and particularly the assertion that we are not loyal and loving the way dogs are.

While it is true that we may have a "roaming" nature, because we are natural hunters, we are just as dedicated to our Hoomans as any dog, once we have attached ourselves and bonded with that Hooman.

For example, in the 10 years I have been living with my Hoomans, I doubt there has been more than a handful of times that I did not sleep on the foot of the bed with my Hoomans, ready to guard the door if there was an intruder.

And trust me, even though we may be quite small in stature, you do not want to get in the way of an angry cat defending something it loves!

Of course, we also make life better because we tend to turn out really well in pictures, and we're often doing silly things at warrant either a photograph or a video!

What's more, there are quite a few broad studies that have shown that cats are good for Hooman health! For example, a cat's purr lowers blood pressure and reduces stress.

It has even beem shown that a purring cat on your chest can loosen congestion when you have a cold or flu!
