Hive, KE and What We Support — "Extended" KE?

I was thinking about Hive's pervasive decline — at least in terms of token price — and some of the metrics we have available to assess who's doing what.

I'll start by saying that I do think the "KE Ratio" is a useful tool, but it only measures one dimension of how a user supposrt Hive: How much we have staked as Hive Power in relation to how much we have earned from posting and curation.

But there are more ways to support the Hive ecosystem that don't always mean "staking as Hive Power."

Now, I'm a very small fish in this pond... I only have about 1,330 Hive Power. Currently, my KE score is 1.53, which I believe is considered "fair" or "pretty decent."

At the same time, I have never sold any of my Hive, and I have never powered down.

Supposedly, my Hive "Author rewards" amount to 1,844.95 Hive
Supposedly, my Hive "Curation rewards" amount to 194.04 Hive

That gives us a total of 2,038.99 Hive.

But I also have 105.98 Hive sitting in my Hive Savings.
And I have 2.413 HBD sitting in my Hive Savings, which is worth about 60.30 Hive at current rates, give or take.

Meanwhile, the Hive-based second layer tokens in my Hive-Engine account are valued at $29, as I write these words. That balance exists purely as a result of my participation here on Hive. At current rates, $29 translates to roughly 753 Hive.

So, if we were to "translate" all my different pockets of Hive-related assets, we end up with:

1,330.20 + 105.98 + 60.30 + 753.24 = 2,249.72 Hive

Which is actually more than 2,038.99 "earned" Hive from my time here.

Keeping in mind that I am not a developer, and wouldn't have even the beginnings of a clue as to the potential coding involved, I do wonder whether someone could invent an "Extended KE" in addition to the "Base KE" we currently have... as a tool to provide more information about those who may not have a super low KE, but still are not the drainers of the system.

Using myself as an example, I would have Base KE 1.53/Extended KE 0.90

This would take into account the large number of people who use some of their liquid rewards to support things like Splinterlands and other Hive projects... but are definitely not selling every five minutes to buy pizza and movie tickets.

Of course, information is just that... information. Very few things in life can be distilled down into hard cold numbers.

These are challenging time for our community, with our Hive token setting new all-time lows pretty much every week... or so it feels.

I don't know what the answer to that is, other than to reiterate what I have stated previously: If supply (of ANYTHING) is greater than demand, the price of the subject commodity will decline... and will likely continue to do so until selling simply becomes less attractive than buying and/or holding.

In comparison the the amount of time and effort required, Hive has long since stopped being a financial thing, for me. Sure, I enjoy "playing with crypto" on a minuscule scale but the 2,250 Hive (equivalent) I have gathered in the course of my 2,050 days here roughly translates to $0.04 a day which is not financially significant in any universe I am familiar with.

I definitely don't consider myself part of the problem, so to speak.

What the solution looks like? Well, that remains to be seen.
