Clown Show!
As the first quarter winds down, I find myself thinking — for the Nth time — that I'm just so relieved that the clown show known as the first quarter of 2026 is over and done with.
I look forward to the next quarter but I'm finding it harder and harder to actually get behind the belief that "it couldn't possibly get any worse." I don't even think about whether it's going to get better, I just think about the vain hope that maybe it won't get worse.
These days, even a neutral month feels like a win!
Maybe that sounds overly pessimistic, but I look around the world and I find very little to feel enthusiastic about. The greater world is at war and at the edge of crisis to an extent I have not seen in my lifetime; more and more people are falling into poverty and and with a world so uncertain how can things possibly get better?
Just to clarify, I'm not talking about Hive in this instance, I'm primarily talking about the world in general and the ongoing clown show out there.
As for Hive, I have reached the point where I treat this primarily as a diversion and a little bit of a game that I am playing for fun. It has long since ceased to be anything I consider in the context of making money or investing, although I might learn a thing or two from reading other people's posts here.
As I remarked in a comment to @alonicus the other day, Hive Power — to me — is like experience points in the game where you try to build your power base and influence. Furthermore, whenever I get a bit of liquid rewards I almost always transfer it to various projects on Hive, often with roots in the Hive-Engine second layer environment where I can support things that I think are worthwhile and interesting.
On the whole, I really just like the community here and hope that I can keep doing this for five, ten, or even more years... if this place is still going by then.
And if it so happens that along that timeline things have turned around and we suddenly have Hive that is much more valuable than it is today... well then I just consider that to be a bonus. But it is definitely not an expectation.
So, my expectation and goals for the 2nd quarter are not related to rewards, but to what I expect of myself in terms of publishing and engagement.
Feel free to leave a comment — this IS "social" media, after all!
As always, a 10% @commentrewarder bonus is active on this post!
Tienes razón, el mundo está loco y ver a Hive como un juego ayuda mucho. Ojalá el próximo trimestre sea mejor
You're right, the world is crazy and seeing Hive as a game helps a lot. I hope the next quarter is better!
Well, I definitely hope the next quarter is better, as well! Independently of that, I will continue to treat Hive activities as a game, for me.

Interesting way of seeing hive. GameFiing it.
Honestly I tend to think of it similiarly, double so since I play games on hive. :)
Double games. Playing a game inside a game hehe.
And now we need a game inside of game inside of a game for gameseption
Haha that's true. Meta Meta Analysis.
It works for me, I guess because it helps remove the idea that there's actually money involved here so I end up just doing it for fun. Which, ultimately, is not a bad thing!
Yeah it's very interesting. It also distances yourself from the price changes...
I just love the idea of HP as XP 😁 I dream of the day I finally hit 5th level.....
5th level meaning 5th animal on hive buzz, or 5K? Either way great goal.
It's a reference to Dungeons & Dragons. You gain Experience Points (XP) as your character goes through their adventures. Periodically, their XP hits a threshold and they go up a level, gaining new abilities and powers. 5th level is traditionally the one where they start to get properly powerful and famous rather than just being novices 😁
Ohhhhh now I feel silly for not get a ting it since I dm a game of dungeons and dragons and play in another one. lol
That would be cool, wouldn't it?
Till such a time, I'm quite content navigating the lower levels of the game and find that I actually enjoy my time here more when I gamify what we're doing here. At least a little bit. My occasional Hive-Engine investments are kind of like "side quests."
Hive really is about the community I agree. If it weren't I'd likely have left a long while ago.
I also agree about it being hard to feel positive when it seems like so many places are literally on fire, being bombed, at war, and yeah. It's a depressing mess.
I realize it's not a particularly optimistic thing to say but the entire world feels pretty much like a giant dumpster fire at the moment. And that's very difficult to feel positive about, at least for me.
But I continue to enjoy the community here, and the occasional engagement, and it somehow brings me back to the roots of why I started blogging to begin with which had nothing to do with earning anything.
If you want some good news Giant panda's are no longer endangered.
The community here on hive is unlike anywhere I've been on the internet. There's so many supportive communities.
Update: @curatorcat.pal, I paid out 1.272 HIVE and 0.000 HBD to reward 4 comments in this discussion thread.
