Retiring with Purpose: From Lifetime Pension to a New Beginning in Senior Tourism

Guys, today’s topic is very interesting, especially because I’m looking for a way to live exactly this experience: to retire now, with a lifetime pension. The problem I want for my life is precisely this: to worry about how to deal with the coming days and years of inactivity!.

Unlike most of you, writers from the Hive Learners community, who are probably theorizing about what you would or wouldn’t do, I already have a practical path mapped out and planned for the big moment when I will hang up my boots (a Brazilian expression equivalent to “retirement”). You should know that the task of retiring is not easy in Brazil, especially after some governments approved the Pension Reform, which requires more and more years of work and contributions from the population in order to retire. But political criticism is not the topic… let’s move on!

A real possibility for me to retire in the short term would be by using a mechanism called proportionality, which, as the name suggests, is nothing more than payment proportional to the time and contributions I have made. Due to a legal issue, this option is not available at the moment, but I remain hopeful that the situation may change in the medium term.

When I achieve the status of retired, my plan is very clear: I will acquire a property. Actually, a plot of land, whose location has already been previously determined (of course adjustments may be made depending on when retirement happens). On this land I will build four housing units, which will be used for short-term rentals. They will be modular, and I intend for them to have two floors (ground level and one upper floor). I will provide the obvious: short-term rental services, but also other services.

Based on the experience I have from domestic travel and my contacts with various sectors of the hotel industry, religious organizations, and elderly care specialists, I have developed a personalized tourism service sales plan aimed at senior citizens. I already have a service structure prepared to offer, which will complement the short-term rental.

The modular design of the residences is also part of my project, allowing for expansion. The exact number of 4 units is also the result of planning; it is not a random number. In short, what I want to say is that I am fully prepared to leave my current job and dedicate myself entirely to my retired life, without having any time for boredom. I will be fully involved in a new activity and will spend much of my time managing my business.

Eventually, I will outsource the management of the activity and reduce my work pace, but I have no intention of lying on the couch watching series. I will be quite active and intend to occupy my mind with serious content, reading, learning, and leisure.

The only thing preventing me from starting my plan right away is the legislative moment, where I would face significant losses if I left everything behind and began this new career. I believe everyone should think about how they intend to spend the last years of their life, and that they should not lower themselves to the point of doing nothing and living only to sleep and eat. Staying active is a necessity to stay alive!

Gente o tópico de hoje é muito interessante, até porque eu to procurando um jeito de viver exatamente essa experiência: me aposentar agora, com uma pensão vitalícia. O problema que eu quero pra minha vida é justamente: me preocupar em como lidar com os próximos dias e anos de inatividade!.

Diferentemente da maioria de vocês, escritores da comunidade Hive Learners, que devem estar teorizando sobre o que fariam e o que não faria, eu tenho um caminho prático já percorrido e planejado para o grande momento onde eu devo pendurar as chuteiras (expressão brasileira equivalente à "aposentadoria"). Você deve saber que a tarefa de se aposentar não é fácil no Brasil, em especial depois que alguns governos aprovaram a Reforma da Previdência, que exige mais e mais anos de trabalho e contribuição da população para que consigam se aposentar. Mas a crítica política não é o assunto... vamos lá!

Uma possibilidade real de eu me aposentar no curto período de tempo seria usando um artifício chamado de proporcionalidade, que como o nome sugere nada mais é do que o pagamento proporcional ao tempo e contribuição realizados por mim. Devido a um problema legal, essa opção não está disponível no momento, mas sigo com a esperança que a situação venha a mudar no médio prazo.

Quando eu conseguir atingir o status de aposentado meu plano é muito claro: vou adquirir um imóvel. Na verdade, um terreno, cuja localização já está previamente estipulada (claro que podem haver ajustes devido ao momento quando a aposentadoria acontecer). Neste terreno eu irei construir quatro unidades habitacionais, que serão utilizadas para aluguel de temporada. Elas serão modulares, e pretendo que tenham dois pisos (térreo e um andar). Irei fornecer o óbvio: serviço de locação por temporada, mas também outros serviços.

Pela experiência que tenho em viagens nacionais, e os contatos com diversos setores do ramo hoteleiro, religioso e especialistas da terceira idade, elaborei um plano de venda de serviço personalizado de turismo para o público idoso. Tenho uma estrutura de serviços já elaborada para oferecer, que serão complementares ao aluguel de temporada.

A modularização das residências também faz parte do meu projeto, que suportará ampliação. A quantidade exata de 4 unidades também é resultado de um plano, não é um número aleatório. Enfim, com tudo isso eu quero dizer é que eu estou plenamente preparado para deixar meu trabalho atual e me dedicar totalmente à minha vida de aposentado, sem ter nenhum momento para o tédio. Estarei totalmente envolvido em uma nova atividade e passarei muito do meu tempo administrando meu negócio.

Eventualmente irei terceirizar o gerenciamento da atividade e diminuir meu ritmo de trabalho, mas não tenho nenhuma pretensão de ficar deitado no sofá assistindo séries. Serei bastante ativo e pretendo ocupar minha mente com conteúdos sérios, leituras, aprendizado, e lazer.

A única coisa que me impede de iniciar logo meu plano é o momento legislacional, onde eu teria muitos prejuízos em deixar tudo para trás e iniciar essa nova carreira. Acredito que todos devem pensar sobre como pretendem passar os últimos anos de sua vida, e que não devem se rebaixar ao ponto de não fazer nada e viver para dormir e comer. Manter-se ativo é uma necessidade para manter-se vivo!
