This is a weekly overview of my personal sports betting/trading results on teams from the Belgian Jupiler League, documenting my journey toward long-term profit with some insights on my overall approach.

Week 27 pretty much turned into a sea of red after a period before where I picked up a lot of confidence, which made me take a shot at playing some higher stake bets again. It was pretty much the horror scenario where the quite confident bets with high stakes up to 1.2 units one way or another ended up losing in the most impossible ways. The crown of them was the match between Kv Mechelen and Zulte-Waregem which in the 95th minute turned from a 0.5 units profit spot into a 1.2 unit loss with the coach of K Mechelen afterward apologising to Zulte-Waregem for the complete hold up. So in a way the fact that I had the biggest bet of the season on Zulte-Waregem as the underdogs was a good move but it doesn't buy me anything.

Certainly not all bets were good and I got even a bit lucky on Club Brugge who scored the winning goal in minute 100 which limited the damage a bit.

All of this is part of betting and the journey and I know that these scenarios can happen and even continue to go on for weeks or months which is where proper bankroll management comes in and where 95% of the people who bet sports get totally wiped out. For me though the 3.5 units loss is barely a scratch purely financially, however, it did leave at least a short term scar as it's just super frustrating.

All season long it has been a balance forcing myself to keep my stakes limited and to hedge in-game to reduce the variance. After a good period I find the coruage to get quite a bit more on outright positions which I still think was the right move but I get punished for it with a mega red candle. If anything, it took my drive and joy away on Sunday and I still need to rebuild it. Each year at the start of the playoffs, I think about skipping them as the football league kind of dominates my life which is really nice during the cold months but as the weather gets better it's less optimal to sit indoors a lot. So I'm again thinking of calling it quits after the regular season and focus more on other things also because purely financially I don't rely whatsoever on the profit that I'm making.

I've said this many times, but one of the things I really like about my blog here is the fact that I'm always super transparant showing both the good and the bad times, this kind of is one of those really bad weeks.

Pre-Game Preview Bets Season 2025-2026

All 4 bigger bets last week beat the closing odds pretty well and also showed to be ok in the statistics even though not all were the greatests bets and it makes a huge difference for at least 1 of them winning at the end. I'm also still up on the season but it also shows how small the sample actually is and how little is needed to take a great ROI down again. This is why it's almost impossible to get around 7% ROI or more in the long run.

Season 2025-2026 Personal Betting Chart

The season chart now which looked nice now indicates that I somehow went on total tilt which I would not say was the case. In the past when taking a shot at higher stakes when that went wrong I quickly scaled down again which always turned out to be the wrong choice. This time I kind of pulled through it all weekend which off course went totally wrong. That said, I'm still in profit on the season and not all that much is needed to get back to the expected profit. Also if This week would have been the 1st week of the season and I would have gone to the 2 units of profit I'm at right now it would feel a whole lot better. I can imagine that this is a bitter pill to swallow. But it also shows that you do have the right mindset.
The Jupiler Pro League can be a real minefield, for sure when we are getting closer to the play-offs. Almost every team is still playing for something. To avoid the relegation play-dows, to get in the PO1 and avoiding the dark hole of PO2. Curious if anybody besides fans of the team in question do what those games, or they collect as many as points poissible because they will be halved when PO1 starts.
Still I am going to miss the play offs.
Betting on the Premier League probably this season is an even big nightmare!
