Splinterlands | April Cards & SPS Accumulation!

Things are turning slightly more bullish on Splinterlands and even though I'm rather skeptial that a ton of new players will come in to make it sustainable, I can't help myself to accumulate more assets each month. This is what I added since my last report

My New Gameplay Strategy

At this moment, I just consider myself to a a Survival Mode Player which is most fun to me and it more or less allows me to play when I want while let the cards that are not on cooldown run in Wild using the archmage bot. This makes affordable Max Level cards interesting for me to buy why I just totally skip on the expensive Conclave Arcana set and the daily modern grind.

I capitulated on my Alt account due to just not having the time for it while it also was just not that fun as there are no clear leagues for non-max level play. I will continue to accumulate more cards using the blogging earnings I get and stake all the SPS that I earn. If the time would come that actual new players come in which gets card and SPS prices in a positive spiral, I might just opt out and move on. It just feels inevitable that after a new adoption phase there will come a time that not enough new players come in to hold up the higher prices.

Welcome To The Family New Max Level Cards

I added quite a few cards last month to my collection which mainly are cards that are still affordable for a Max Level.

New Max Level Riftwatcher Buys!

Some of the Riftwacther cards that I did not own any copy of but look usable in Survival and Wild now have gotten tot a price point where they feel very cheap compared to some older cards with similar type stats.

The Bramble Pixie is one I always wanted to buy as I generally like the heal mechanic and it acts as a 2nd tank. I paid 12.223$ for a Max Level copy some days ago and am glad that I have it available in my collection. at 26.024 copies for a common card it's not a crazy print knowig 400 are needed for a max level.
I also managed to buy the Corsair Borun at Max Level for 8.173$ which feels like a cards that I should be able to use regularly with a Rathe deck in 2nd position where it's protected against Blast while it cleanses the tank. It's basically the cost of 2 packs which gives 115 Rare cards for a Max Level card which is why I never really buy packs but wait for when cards are dumped way cheaper on the market. If things go up, these should be the cards that also do reasonably well.
I regularly play pure magic Decks and the Scavo Technmancer at just 4.714$ for a max level also felt like a nice pricepoint to buy my copy even though I'm not sure that I will actually play it often. It never hurts though to have more options even though it is certainly a vulnerable card.

Gold Foil backup!

On of the frustrating things about Survival mode is that common cards have a 5-day cooldown at max level. One of the cards that I tend to use a lot is the Deeplurker which especially at max level is quite powerful. When I checked the market, there was a regular copy available for 12$+ while the gold version was for sale at around 19.76$ which given how often I use it and the reduced cooldown I could not resist on. It also gives increased earnings in Survival mode on won battles.

Extra Max Level Summoner!

On of the cards that I accumulated quite some single copies of in the past is the Camila Sungazer as it's a dragon Summoner with a lot of utility. As I capitulated on my alt account, I had a level 2 copy and 7 extra singled needing only 1 extra to level it up to max level giving me an extra Summoner to use. So I bought a single copy for 4.64$ and made the jump to get my 2nd Max Level copy to use in Survival.

More Chaos Legion Cards!

Chaos Legion is still dirt cheap while I don't have all the cards yet at max level. so I grinded a couple more of them including the Mycelic Infantry which actually works really well in combo with the Immortalis Summoner. I paid 2.34$ for 0 more copies.

Another Chaos Legion Cards I leveld was the Venari Scout and I also bought a backup max level copy of the Venari Wavesmith as I need Armor as protection in battles where I play all Magic.

May Accumulation Whichlist!

I still have some more Chaos Legion Cards that I need to get to Max Level in order to actually complete my set and another card that I really want is the Water Callerwhich is similar to the Medusa but way cheaper at ~6$ instead of 94$ for a max level copy. I also need some more copies to get the Runic Slyclaw to max level.

SPS Accumulation

The patience and accumulation of SPS finally is starting to pay off as the constant drop in value has turned around and it's now worth more than double than what it used to be. I'm kind of kicking myself for not having doubled down but at the same time I'm glad to be at over 300k. I managed to add around 6k SPS last month and this while missing an entire season of Suvival mode as I was on vacation.

Last TimeNow

I do expect a pump & dump scenario where there is an orchestrated price pump for whales to burn SPS to get DEC to buy into Conclave Arcana with a steep drop down again once the conversions as a favorable rate have been done. If anything there should be some kind of protection against things like this. Anyway, we will see how it goes as it might now be like I imagine it will be.

Conclusion!

I'm still here accumulating a bit more each month while I continue to earn and enjoy the game. I do have a ton of extra single cards though which at some point might start to sell off as they continue to be totally useless.

I am hoping for a non pump and dump that we will go much higher than now and fall back to current levels before heading even higher. My SPS target is 25 cents.

Fingers crossed, man it would be great in case we could get in another crazy adoption wave where prices are high and everyone wants to get in at the same time. It certainly is possible but at the same time I see it as rather unlikely. So far I haven't seen any sings yet of new players coming in.

At the same time, the game continues to capture me and the community very much is alove which is a major positive sign that keeps me running on hope.

Hey Costanza! I have been reading all your posts on Splinterlands and noticed that you were always practically cautious and never shilled blindly. Your recent posts had been bit pessimistic (with right reasons for it). I am so excited to see that even you have now started turning bullish. I have a strong hunch that Splinterlands, SPS value and whole ecosystem is finally all set to explode.
Cheers!!

I'm still rather cautious as in the end, new players still have to come in and I don't fully see it happening that easily. It would be nice though it it actually happened and there certainly is the potential for things to go crazy again even though I'm not counting on it.

The fact that Splinterlands is still standing and 'holding up' on it's own is quite the achievement.
