I'm back from my 2-month vacation now, going into my 10th year here on Hive and I'm looking forward to sharing all my previews and bets here again. The regular Season starts next weekend but there is the unofficial start of the season tonight with the Super cup between the Winner of the league (Club Brugge) and the winner of the Cup (Union). So it's time to take a look at that match.

I still need to update some stats and results from previous season and will be doing that in the coming week. Otherwise, my regular way of posting will back be in play from next weekend during the entire 2026-2027 Season.

Club Brugge vs Union SG

Traditionally, the supercup as a match where the home team takes it serious in front of their home fans while the visitors see it as a glorified practice match. However, in the last 2 years, a long streak of the home team winning was broken twice in a match also between Club Brugge and Union. For today, there are many questionmarket for Club Brugge. Key players like Tzolis & Stankovic left the team while 3 internationals Mechele, Vanaken,& Seys just got back from vacation and they are very questionable to start the match. They are on the sheet and I do expect them to get minutes closer to the end of the match. Tresoldi is linked to a transfer and might not be fully focused while Onyedika is sick and Ordonez is injured. So their coach will need to improvise on the position of defensive midfielder. Looking at their practice matches, they also failed to keep clean sheets which is somewhat of a working point for them under theor offensive coach Leko. So a loit of questionmarks, and I would not be surprised to see Club Brugge start with a more experimental starting 11 which needs to be confirmed. Union had limited transfers over the summer with key defensive player Burgess leaving which might force them to play a bit differently. Their offense was kind of their weak point last season after David got injured and he is expected to start on the bench today. I don't expect for Union to see this as a glorified practice match and kind of see it the opposite way where Club Brugge who seem far from ready at this point might see it that way more. So the main question for me is if the +0.25 on Union and/or the Union Team Total Over 1 lines is worth the risk. As often, it's very close and I'm sticking to tiny positions as initial pre-game bets. I took just 0.1 unit on Union +0.25 @ 1.980 & 0.1 unit on Union Team Total Over 1 @ 1.780 with options to maybe increase my stakes.
