I gave a little back on Saturday, but I'm still well up on the week going into Sunday looking forward to 4 more matches with many of the teams having had a coach change.
AA Gent vs Antwerp
AA Gent saw Leko leave as their coach and De Mil come in so it remains somewhat of a question mark how exactly they will play. So far Gent has been a mixed bag with a squad that should be more than capable but where expecially on the defensive end they showed to be vulnerable at times. In the last 4 matches they avegeraged 1.87xg against but I don't think this is a case where the new coach comes in and first tries to set the defense straight of a poor performing team. I do think especially at home the intentions will be positively forward. Antwerp under their new coach took 3 wins in a row. They had a hold-up 0-1 win against Club in a 1-way traffic match where they were pushed back but where Brugge failed to finish. They took a draw to win it in extra time in the cup at home against Stvv in what was a wild 3-3 match. Last week at home it was the opening of their new tribune 2 which made for an insane home advantage and drive. They are coming off a defensive coach and now have a dutch coach who tend to be more forward which has kind of shown so far especially at home. They did pick up a lot of confidence but at the same time are still the squad who simply doesn't have enough quality in it. So today might very much be the day where they get put with their feet on the ground. The main doubt I have is if AA Gent actually will be good enough. I can see a scenraio where it is an open match with some not so good defending all the time on both sides. I took 0.2 unit on
Over 2.5 @ 1.977 and 0.1 units also on
Over 3.5 @ 3.404. Similar to the match away from Antwerp against Club Brugge I can see an initial 1-way traffic as AA Gent with their new coach should also have plenty of motivation. I took 0.12 units on
AA Gent 1H -0.5 Corners @ 1.900. I also see AA Gent as the overall better team and the 3-game winnings streak of Antwerp came under specific circumstances which might not be in play today. So also 0.12 units on
AA Gent -0.25 @ 1.920. All bets with an eye to possibly increase my stake in-game.
Dender vs Club Brugge
Dender is now unbeaten in 5 matches and picked up a better momentum leaving them in a spot where they no longer are without chance in the league to end last. They increased their xg on both ends which made all these unbeaten matches go to 3+ goals. Brugge Fired their coach Hayen mainly because they haven't played a single match where they were outstanding in the league and the drive for quite some time had been gone as all the focus and interest from the players only was on the Champions League. They played against Arsenal B-Squad and also lost without chance under their new coach Leko who has not had much chance to change much yet. This will be the first real match under him where he might make some tactical changes and he was brought on to bring the drive back and get them scoring again. So I do expect higher motivation and a drive forward which they haven't had in quite some time. The big question is if they are actually capable and how much fatigue will play a role as they had a lot of matches already. I do expect an entertaining match where Brugge tries to push from the start playing out the coach change shock effect and Dender should also go their chance after having picked up some confidence. I did take an initial 0.12 unit bet on
Club Brugge Team Total Over 2 @ 1.900. I want to see the actual match picture and if Brugge are able to push first though before getting in more. My leans are on the Over and the away win.
Charleroi vs Union SG
Charleroi saw their coach De Mil being picked away by AA Gent to replace Leko and they are with an interim coach at the moment. So far, they had a hard season as some of the key offensive players have not been replaced properly. Scoring has been their biggest problem and I don't see that solved yet. Union lost in Europe against Marseille but showed their drive once again and the question also here is how much fatigue will be an issue. This season they have been crushing it at home covering all of their big handicaps even though they did not always play that great. On the road they are 2.5W-5.5L against the asian handicaps. Their main Power in the league us that they manage to keep their xg against really low at just 0.72 on average while Charrleroi in that standing over the last 4 matches is in 2nd place at just 0.97 which explains the 2.25 total line. I do see it as rather low and will keep an eye on it in-game to possibly take an over if the line moves quickly. I see the odds on the away win as good enough to take 0.12 units on
Union -0.5 @ 1.938. I do think that All the inituiative early will come from Union and in the last 2 matches away against similar-type opponents, they won the 1st half corners with 1-7 & 0-3 so I took 0.236 units on
Union 1st Half -0.5 Corners @ 2.020. I also took a tiny 30 USDC crypto bet on
Union 1H -1.5 Corners @ 2.800 over at dexsport.io. and 0.08 units on
Union 1H -0.25 @ 2.019. Union Team Total Over is also on my radar but I'm waiting here also to get a bit more confirmation in-game.
Genk vs Westerlo
Genk lost with a 1-0 score away in the Europa League last week in the league with 3-0 against Antwerp which has put their coach under quite heavy fire as they generally perform below what they should be capable of. They are not the only team as the combination of fatigue from Europe along with defensive opponents in the league seems to be a very hard combination to do well in. They have some injured players with Kayembe, Ito, Nkuba, Adedenji-Sternberg who aren't A-Sqaud players but have their place to give the coach options. At the start of the season they played offensively which left them very vulnerable in the back which more or less feels like an issue that has been solved. Westerlo has been a team that lacked efficiency while they always managed to create plenty of chances and xg. Last week, they finally managed to cpitulise on it with a 4-0 win over Anderlecht (mainly thinks to defensive gifts of the opponent). They remain though with 3.19-3.09-2.46-1.18 xg created in their last 4 matches. Genk at home also manage to create their chances at 2.23-2.34-1.19-1.85 xg in their last 4 home matches. So it's a match where both are able to create chances but are not flawless in the defense which potentially could make for a match with plenty of goals. Genk has their fatigue and bad momentum against them while Westerlo has Rommons back and picked up confidence with the 4-0 win over Anderlecht last week. I would not be surprised at all by an away win sealing the fate of Genk Coach Fink today. I took a cautious 0.12 unit bet on Over 3 @ 1.949 with an eye to possibly get in more at higher odds. I'm also leaning toward a Weterlo win or DNB line at high odds.
