I kept a low profile again yesterday in the match from Club Brugge which more or less played out how I anticipated giving me just a brief window to get a bet in before Club Brugge made the 2-0 and 3-0. So I'm happy to take that win but at the same time a bit frustrated that I didn't manage to get more in it. Saturday schedule is a bit strange with 3 matches of which 2 are played at the same time. I also already took some bets for tomorrow which were shared in the SBC Discord. Here are the previews for today...

Standard vs Cercle Brugge

Standard last season mainly was a former top team with focus on defense which they were capable of who ended just below playoff 1 which actually was a solid place based on their quality. Mainly in the offensive end they lacked. Not all too much has changed for them which should give them a solid starting position. Said left for 9 Million and they attracted Nsimba as a possible scoring striker. Drammeh was brought in to replace Said and everything else pretty much stayed similar. They still have a strong how crowd and a practice match at home against Juventus attracted 17k fans to the stadion. Because of the home advantage, it's always tricky to bet against Standard at home as there is always a chance that it's 'one of those matches' especially if they are not the clear favorite. They are the team with the easiest early league schedule and I expect them focused in this match again playing in a way where they don't give much away first and try to go forward 2nd. Cercle Brugge had a poor season last year despite the fact that they did not have European load like the year before. Their main problem was that they just had a hard time to create much and it feels like not enough changes for this to be different right now. At the same time, Cercle is one of those teams which if they would perform really well it would not be a major surprise. Still given the situation, I right now see Standard ending ahead of them in the standings and I need to take in mind the home advantage. I do feel the line on the home team is rather generous and I was willing to take 0.3 units on Standard 1st Half +0 @ 1.834 along with 0.1 unit on Standard +0 @ 1.824

Westerlo vs Union SG

Westerlo managed to sell a lot of players for good money. Ferri (9M) Piedfort (5.5M) / Bayram (4M) / Reynolds (4.6M) / Alcocer (3.5M) / while Sayadmanesh left as a free agent. They still have the same coach and brought in Sandra, Fofana & Bassette as the main new players. It remains to be seen though how long it will take for them to get something going. Union already played matches in the Supercup (which they won quite flattering) and in Europe where they gave 3 goals away but also scored 3 times. They are inbetween the Champions League qualifier match and I would not be surprised to see some rotation while important central Defender Sykes got injured along with Zorgane. With Brugess also having left along with their 1st goalkeeper of last season, I do expect Union much more vulnerable compared to the wall they used to be last year (only 17 goals against in the regular season). At the same time, offensivelu they feel slight better with Davind who is back along with some of the others who are reaching a better form. They remain a very efficient team. If it wasn't for Westerlo having so many key players who left and need to be replaced, I would be willing to go against Union at this line. Right now thogh, I mainly see an angle where the 'Under Scenario' of union of last season is debunked expecially given the Sykes injruy and this hasn't been fully adjusted in the line. I took 0.4 units on Over 2.5 @ 1.906 and I will keep it at that for now.

Sint-Truiden vs Lommel

Stvv is set out for a really difficult season as they are sure of European football which always has a negative effect on team like this who aren't used to it both because of the fysical and mental fatigue. They on top lost the coach they had the success with while key players like Ito, Yamamoto, Goto, and Muja left them. It needs to be seen how the 2nd coach taking over along with the new Japanese players will do and how they cope with the European matches. I'm not looking to back them as the big favorite. Lommel is a team I don't know much about aside from the fact that they are a sister team of Manchester United and that they managed to get the promotion against Dender. The fact that one of their stories is Seuntjens who is their 37-year-old striker who now for the first time plays in 1st division after going through all lower leagues kind of says a lot. I need to watch them a couple times before I'm willing to make any bets. No Pre-Game Bets
