No justification but is necessary at times

The ethics of lying can be complex. While honesty is generally valued, there are situations where lying might be debated, especially when you have to protect someone's feelings, which is known as a white lie. Sometimes you are telling a lie to save a life or prevent harm.

I know the Bible condemns lying; nothing justifies it, but sometimes knowledge is profitable to direct in certain situations. Let's take this situation, for example

When my cousin gave birth, her mother was sick and she needed assistance. I was free at that time, still job hunting. I am the kind of person who knows not to wear anything revealing when I go to a married woman's house, whether she is my sister or not, because not all married men have self-discipline.

Forget this saying that men are polygamous in nature; some men are being controlled by their third wheel. They can actually ask their wives' sisters out without caring about the consequences of their actions. So, my cousin's husband was among those men who don't know boundaries.

He started making advances towards me. When I refused, he stopped bringing money home and always complained that his company hadn't paid him.Until I saw one of his colleagues along the way and we got talking about my job hunting, he told me that his company has a vacancy, and I should apply.

I told him that his company, which has refused to increase my uncle's salary and pay him for three months now, is where he wants me to work. So he asked me where I heard that from. He mentioned that their company pays them every twenty-eighth of the month and has never owed any of them before. I asked if he was sure that they paid everybody, and he said yes.

I said okay, I went home. I don't know which one to tell my cousin first. Is it that her husband was making advances towards me or that he has been lying about his company not paying? I decided to test the water by reporting one to her and see her reaction. So I told her one day that her husband has been making advances towards me and I am not comfortable with it.

She didn't say anything or react. I took it that maybe she is planning on how to confront her husband. After three days, I was called to our family house for a meeting. Thank God I have already told my mom about this, my cousin's husband's attitude.It turns out that she reported me to the family that I am seducing her husband.

I was confused and angry. I told everybody what had happened, but some believed and others didn't. So after the whole meeting, I went to her house, packed my things, and left. I regretted ever telling her the truth. I had caught the husband with her worst enemy in church, but I refused to tell her. The day it came out in the open, everybody asked if I knew about it. I lied, that I don't know anything. I mean, why should I tell her the truth? The first time it didn't go well.

At times we lie not just to protect someone, but ourselves. Since that incident, I hardly tell anybody the truth that will cause a home to break up, as I learned the hard way. However, lying can damage trust and relationships, but it's necessary at times.
