High cost of living should allow the living breath

The cost of living nowadays wants to kill the living, the rate at which prices of foodstuff, and transportation are increasing and the government is not doing anything about it. The masses keep pretending as if everything is alright.

There is this statement people make I think that's what makes the government feel reluctant, anyhow wey government like make them do, we go chest am(whatever the government likes, let them do we will survive).

At first, it was transportation that wanted to transport us to our early graves, drivers had to come up with fuel as an excuse. When the price of fuel hit the rock mid of last year, we all thought about where it would end. Little did we all know that life was going to be tougher than it has always been.

I used to take a cab from not so far distance for fifty naira to my church. Life was easy then, Now from my house to my church I pay 600 to and fro and that's if you trek a little from the main bus stop. My workplace used to be fifty from my house to the first bus stop and one hundred and fifty to my workplace.

I pay two hundred and fifty nairas to get to the first bus stop, four hundred nairas to get to my workplace now, and three hundred if you move away from the main park too. In all it's still very high, cause, as all this increases salary is not increasing. The cost of housing has skyrocketed, with home prices nearly doubling in Nigeria, for example, the average monthly rent for a one-bedroom apartment in the city center is around five hundred thousand to one million but this year it has increased to one point five million naira, five hundred thousand extra.

Early this year before I came back for my travel, our landlady just increased our house rent, by adding fifty thousand extra to what we have been paying, it was hard on me, and if you can't pay pack out. Gas prices have also increased, from paying 350 per kg to buying 1500 per kg in Port Harcourt, while the price of fuel has gone up from 200 per liter to 1100, so why won't transportation be high?

Food

For one to afford a two square meal is grace, nobody is talking of three square anymore if fifty thousand was enough for one month in my house currently that money is for one week now with management. Basic utilities like electricity, and water is high cost now.

My basic utility like electricity is not even debatable, the power holding company wants to use estimated bills and kpai (kill) someone. There will be no light but the bills are always too high. There are water bills which have also increased. Provisions just keep increasing every day you enter the market.

Even if I change my location it still the same thing all around Nigeria although some places are high like Port Harcourt,Lagos, Benin and delta, it is as if each market seller and landlord had a meeting to double the prices of houses and food stuffs.

The only solution am seeing is if the government will put up a market regulator agency and cut down the prices of fuel which is majorly the reason for the increment in everything. Things will be easy for everyone.

The high cost of living has made it difficult for individuals to survive and I wonder what will be of the next generation if anything is not done about it.
