Hello world, hello hello hivers and hello mi familia. It's a brand new week and with that I say welcome to another edition of the Gems community. I remain my humble self @coderaikiri and for my entry to this beautiful world where creativity shines brightest I'll be presenting a cover to the song The matter by Wizkid and Maleek Berry.....
My friend would always say that every Nigerian Gen z started off as a hardcore Wizkid fan (FC) before moving on to other fan base that appealed to their personalities and I couldn't have agreed more. When Wizkid came into the music industry, he immediately won our hearts because he represented the very thing every young person wanted to see, a youngster thriving in the music space... At some point people started calling the Nigerian version of Justin Bieber because he was also young and talented.
After leaving the EME record label, things seemed like it wasn't going to work out for the young artist but Wizkid proved them wrong by dropping a series of hits that his audience has no option but to love him more... Back to the matter was one of them... I remember when this song dropped and I was just in SS 1, I tried mimicking everything about it down to the way he walked in the music video . The song was a hit and being a part of that generational run had me in my feelings and in my opinion that period was the time Afrobeats had substance... The song was not only incredible, it was also danceable and thank God I represented well.
