Poetry has been a vainglorious thing for centuries and centuries. It has always been said of those who create it, that they are people with a different and deep spiritual connection. Therefore, those who make poetry a way of living (and not just expressing themselves) have always received special affection and respect from those around them.

In our society, unfortunately, due to thousands of problems that suffocate us day after day, poetic work is undermined, with fewer exponents and also less public. Therefore, to hold an event, or a "Meeting of Caribbean Poets" in these circumstances, is somewhat difficult.

The amazing thing is that against all odds, it is achieved.

I have been more than three years since I decided to be part of this pack of crazy people, hipsters, dreamers, who find certainty and vulnerability with words. Year after year we meet, especially in this "meeting" that I mentioned to you, and despite the public's fondness, we are there. We share both in spaces for promotion and in heritage sites, but the truly laudable thing is that the poetic tradition is not lost.

Sometimes we look like we are going to attend a red carpet. Others, we are disheveled and sweaty because of the Caribbean weather. But I reiterate, the important thing is that we are and continue to defend our space.

I am infinitely grateful to have had a place in an event like this. I am young and every attentive look is an encouragement to follow. There have been several people who have approached me to tell me that what I write moves them, and that for me is everything: knowing that from my truth I was able to connect with other human beings.

After all, that's what poets' singing is all about. We can evoke the beautiful and the impure, always touching the deepest of everyone who feels sensitivity beyond the objective world.

I take this opportunity to greet all my poet friends, hug them from a distance and wish them to continue cultivating the world. Hugs!

La poesía ha sido algo vanagloriado por los siglos de los siglos. Siempre se ha dicho de quienes la crean, que son personas con una conexión espiritual diferente y profunda. Por tanto, quienes hacen de la poesía una forma de vivir (y no solo de expresarse) siempre han recibido un afecto y respeto especial de quienes los rodean.

En nuestra sociedad, lamentablemente, debido a miles de problemáticas que nos sofocan día tras día, la labor poética se ve desmejorada, con menos exponentes y también menos público. Por tanto hacer un evento, o un "Encuentro de poetas del Caribe" en estas circunstancias, es algo difícil.

Lo sorprendente es que contra viento y marea, se logra.

Llevo más de tres años tras los que decidí ser parte de esta manada de locos, hipsters, soñadores, que encontramos certeza y vulnerabilidad con las palabras. Año tras año nos encontramos, sobre todo en este "encuentro" que les mencionaba, y a pesar de la afición del público, estamos ahí. Compartimos tanto en espacios para la promoción como en sitios patrimoniales, pero lo verdaderamente loable es que la tradición poética no se pierda.

A veces nos vemos como si fuéramos a asistir a una alfombra roja. Otras, estamos despeinados y sudorosos por el clima caribeño. Pero reitero, lo importante es que estamos y seguimos defendiendo nuestro espacio.

Agradezco infinitamente haber tenido cabida en un evento como este. Soy joven y cada mirada atenta es un aliento para seguir. Varias han sido las personas que se me han acercado para decirme que lo que escribo les conmueve, y eso para mí lo es todo: saber que desde mi verdad pude conectar con otros seres humanos.

A fin de cuentas, de eso se trata el canto de los poetas. Podemos evocar lo hermoso y lo impuro, siempre tocando lo más hondo de todo aquel que sienta sensibilidad más allá del mundo objetivo.

Aprovecho para saludar a todos mis amigos poetas, abrazarlos desde la distancia y aninarlos a que sigamos cultivando el mundo. ¡Un abrazo!
