Do you like classical music? 🎹 (eng-esp)

I remember that when I was little I didn't like classical music. The orchestras tormented me, the instrumental pieces made me sleepy, and the lyrical singing seemed to me something boisterous and exaggerated. How much my opinion has changed until today!

Because yes, my playlist is very varied and it could not miss works that meant so much in the universal evolution of music. Today especially, for @ablaze's #ThreeTuneTuesday, I want to emphasize my three favorite arias so, here we go!

"Duo de Fleurs" is for me one of the most beautiful duets that exist in opera. The exquisite combination that occurs between the soprano and the mezzo transports me to a parallel universe. This sequence of harmonies, accompanied by the softness of the orchestra, allow to highlight the mastery of both performers. It makes me very funny that these days I've seen reels on Instagram where they recreate this work, but with other words, thus changing its meaning completely.

Secondly, I would like to mention the aria of the Queen of the Night, The Magic Flute. I discovered this work on a classical music album for children and it was precisely because of it that I began to delve deeper into the world of operatic singing. It is one of the most difficult Arias to perform because of the sequence of staccatos on whistling notes that make up the most popular part of the song. From the first time I heard it I was fascinated, and every time I listen to it I completely shudder.

When Pavarotti is mentioned, everyone instantly thinks of "Nessun Dorma". And I completely understand this reaction, it is one of the arias that marked the life of this artist above all. However, my favorite by him is "O Sole Mio". For me there is no more beautiful work than this one. Every time I listen to it, I feel completely in love too.

Recuerdo que cuando era pequeño no me gustaba la música clásica. Las orquestas me atormentaban, las piezas instrumentales me daban sueño, y el canto lírico me parecía algo bullucioso y exagerado. ¡Cuánto ha cambiado mi parecer hasta hoy!

Porque sí, mi playlist es muy variada y en ella no podían faltar obras que significaron tanto en el devenir universal de la música. Hoy en especial, para el #ThreeTuneTuesday de @ablaze, quiero hacer énfasis en mis tres arias favoritas así que, ¡allá vamos!

"Duo de Fleurs" es para mí uno de los duetos más hermosos que existen en la ópera. La combinación exquisita que ocurre entre la soprano y la mezzo me transportan a un universo paralelo. Esta secuencia de armonías, acompañada por la suavidad de la orquesta, permiten resaltar la maestría de ambas intérpretes. Se me hace muy gracioso que en estos días he visto reels en Instagram donde recrean esta obra, pero con otras palabras, cambiando así su sentido por completo.

En segundo lugar quisiera mencionar la aria de la Reina de la Noche, La Flauta Mágica. Esta obra la descubrí en un disco de música clásica para niños y justo por ella fue que comencé a adentrarme más en el mundo del canto operístico. Es una de las Arias más difíciles de ejecutar por la secuencia de staccatos en notas de silbido que conforman la parte más popular de la canción. Desde la primera vez que la escuché quedé fascinado, y cada vez que la escucho me estremezco por completo.

Cuando mencionan a Pavarotti, todo el mundo piensa instantáneamente en "Nessun Dorma". Y esta reacción la entiendo completamente, se trata de una de las arias que marcó sobre todo la vida de este artista. Sin embargo, mi favorita por parte de él es "O Sole Mio".
