Una mirada a la realidad y a la sensatez (Es-En)

Ser aficionado es un tema difícil, ya que muchas veces las emociones nublan nuestro entendimiento. A mí me pasa esto constantemente, lo reconozco, y por eso puedo comprender cada frustración en torno a la selección vinotinto y su eliminación mundialista.

Pero si somos honestos, futbolísticamente hablando, ¿qué posibilidades tenía Venezuela de vencer a Colombia? Ninguna, hombre por hombre, los colombianos son mejores, la mayoría de ellos militan en las mejores ligas de Europa, mientras que los venezolanos juegan en USA donde juegan los retirados y en ligas inferiores. Solo hay unos pocos como Aramburu que han pisado suelo europeo, pero la mayoría carece no solo de esta experiencia sino de técnica y calidad.

Sumado a eso, dirigidos por un técnico mediocre que no tiene ideas futbolísticas claras dentro de la cancha, agudizan el problema. Por lo que era algo impensable esperar lo que no pasó, era mejor asumir la realidad para así no sentir ninguna decepción.

Particularmente, aplaudo lo que hizo la selección con las carencias que tenían, no podían dar más de lo que dieron, y fue bastante evidente su poca capacidad frente a un equipo que sí sabe jugar al fútbol. Colombia aprovechó cada hueco que había en la saga venezolana, y dio un recital de superioridad que se vio reflejado en el marcador.

Ahora bien, ¿se puede rescatar algo positivo de estas eliminatorias? Pienso que sí, Venezuela tiene jugadores jóvenes con buen talento, jugadores que de ahora en adelante deben ser la base para la selección. Todos esos viejos deben salir, y aquí debemos dejar el sentimentalismo de lado, pues en el fútbol actual, son los jóvenes quienes pueden realmente competir.

Por último, sí, será corto este post, pues solo quiero hacer un llamado a la realidad. Venezuela necesita cosas puntuales para poder clasificar a un mundial, pero una de ellas y es la única que mencionaré: es contratar a un técnico con experiencia, un técnico europeo o sudamericano, pero que tenga experiencia internacional, y si es mundialista mejor, pero se requiere inversión.

Caso contrario, es muy difícil pensar, creer, “tener fe”, ilusionarse, llámelo como lo quiera llamar, pero es muy difícil que Venezuela clasifique a un mundial sin saber jugar al futbol, solo empuje y corazón no alcanzan, se necesitan ideas claras, calidad táctica, un estilo de juego definido, trabajar en el medio campo, en la defensa, nada de eso tiene la selección, así no se va para el baile, y el único resultado que se obtiene, es el conseguido actualmente: Una cenicienta dormida y eliminada.

A look at reality and common sense

Being a fan is a difficult thing, as emotions often cloud our judgment. I admit that this happens to me all the time, which is why I can understand all the frustration surrounding the Venezuelan national team and its elimination from the World Cup.

But if we are honest, football-wise, what chance did Venezuela have of beating Colombia? None. Man for man, the Colombians are better; most of them play in the best leagues in Europe, while the Venezuelans play in the US, where retired players and lower leagues play. There are only a few, like Aramburu, who have played in Europe, but most lack not only this experience but also technique and quality.

Added to that, they are led by a mediocre coach who has no clear soccer ideas on the field, which exacerbates the problem. So it was unthinkable to expect what did not happen; it was better to accept reality so as not to feel any disappointment.

Personally, I applaud what the team did with the shortcomings they had. They couldn't give more than they did, and their lack of ability was quite evident against a team that knows how to play soccer. Colombia took advantage of every gap in the Venezuelan defense and gave a masterclass in superiority that was reflected in the score.

Now then, can anything positive be salvaged from these qualifiers? I think so. Venezuela has talented young players who should form the core of the national team going forward. All the old players need to go, and we need to put sentimentality aside, because in today's soccer, it's the young players who can really compete.

Finally, yes, this post will be short, because I just want to call for a return to reality. Venezuela needs specific things in order to qualify for the World Cup, but one of them, and the only one I will mention, is to hire an experienced coach, a European or South American coach, but one with international experience, and if he has World Cup experience, even better, but that requires investment.

Otherwise, it is very difficult to think, believe, “have faith,” get excited, call it what you will, but it is very difficult for Venezuela to qualify for a World Cup without knowing how to play soccer. Drive and heart alone are not enough. Clear ideas, tactical quality, a defined style of play, work in midfield, in defense—the national team has none of that. so you don't go to the dance, and the only result you get is the one you currently have: a sleeping Cinderella who has been eliminated.
