Greetings SplinterLovers 💚

Happy weekend to all, I hope everyone is doing well in my favorite community. Today I'm here with a card that doesn't belong to the human bloodline, as I think I'm done with those (the truth is, there are too many, haha). So I'll start writing about cards that I like for their visual appearance and that I think are convenient to use on the battlefield. Plus, as you know, every card tells a story, and today we're going to unravel the one of a very versatile and stealthy warrior that belongs to the Earth element:

If you're new and have just started playing and maybe have unknowingly used the "Buttercup Mauler" card, it's likely that this forest girl has saved you on more than one occasion. But if you still don't know her, get ready to discover why she is much more than a pretty face and a simple common card. This post is a complete guide for you to get to know this card in depth, from its impressive art to the smartest strategies to use it in battle, so, without further ado, let's begin:

The first thing that catches the eye about Buttercup Mauler is undoubtedly her design. Far from being an ugly and grumpy monster, this card presents us with a warrior who seems to have just stepped out of a fairy tale. Her design evokes the image of a mystical girl, a kind of forest princess with clear deer-like features, but who emanates a powerful strength, hidden by her personality and sweet smile.

Her long brown hair is mixed with deer antlers and small leaves that give her a wild touch, her eyes shine with the intensity of nature itself, and her armor, made of branches and leaves, seems like an extension of her own body. An artist who has worked with Splinterlands described her as a creature that is “soft, graceful, and strong,” a true incarnation of the earth. Despite her delicate appearance, there is a spark of power in her gaze that tells you not to mess with her. Furthermore, in the vast world of Splinterlands, full of dragons and beasts, Buttercup Mauler stands out in her design for her beauty and her connection with nature.

Now, let's move on to what really matters, and that is to see what this card can do on the battlefield. Buttercup Mauler is a common unit of the Earth element and has a mana cost of 5, which makes her a solid option for most confrontations. Like any card, she evolves as she levels up, gaining more power, speed, and, above all, abilities that make her incredibly valuable.

  • Level 1 (2 Attack, 1 Speed, 4 Health): In her beginnings, Buttercup Mauler is a simple stealthy assassin with some "Tank" traits. However, from the beginning, she already has two crucial abilities that make her what I said before: A sneak attack (Sneak), which allows her to attack the last monster on the enemy team, and Deflect, which reduces the redirected damage from abilities like "Thorns, Return Fire, Magic Reflect, Corrosive Ward, and Blast" to ZERO.

  • Level 5 (3 Attack, 2 Speed, 5 Health, +Reveal Ability): Upon reaching this level, this warrior gains the Reveal ability. This is a very useful skill, as in each round, if the opponent has a card with the "Camouflage" ability, it reveals it, meaning the opponent can no longer hide that card and it can be attacked from any position on our side. This is great for countering teams that rely on invisibility to protect their monsters, especially if they are offensive.

  • Level 9 (4 Attack, 4 Speed, 6 Health + Camouflage Ability): From this level on, Buttercup Mauler becomes a true nightmare, haha. She not only becomes stronger and faster but also gains the Camouflage ability. This ability allows her to hide, so the monsters on the enemy team cannot attack her unless she is in the first position, which gives her total freedom to stealthily attack the enemy without the risk of us losing her in the first rounds.

Now that we know her stats and abilities, we can understand why Buttercup Mauler is such an interesting card, especially for players looking for a reliable and versatile option.

Best Rules for Zyrx

  • Melee Mayhem:* This rule allows all monsters with a melee attack to attack from any position. Buttercup Mauler, with her Sneak Attack and Deflect abilities, can become a nightmare in this type of combat, in addition to having a great offensive power of up to +5 attack points.

  • Armored Up: In this rule, all monsters get +2 armor at the start of the battle. This turns the Buttercup Mauler into a survival machine, since she doesn't originally have armor, so this rule fits her like a glove, especially for her ability to defend with the "Deflect" ability.

  • Equal Opportunity: This rule is very good for "Buttercup Mauler," due to the fact that with her high attack power, she can destroy even the weakest card of the opponent in terms of health points in a single attack. Also, with "Deflect," you can counter any redirected attack.

Worst Rules for Zyrx

  • Very low mana conditions (Mana Cap 12): In these battles with very little mana, a cost of 5 can be too high. It's possible that you will run out of options to build the rest of your team if you use this card, so it is not recommended.

  • Noxious Fumes: This rule can be very harmful to "Buttercup Mauler," since losing -2 health points in each round is really detrimental to the strategy in which we use her, even if we can heal her, I don't think it will be enough.

  • Little League: You definitely can't use Buttercup Mauler in this rule. The mana cost of the card is 5, and the Little League rule only allows monsters with a mana cost of 4 or less. Using her in this type of battle is simply impossible.

Buttercup Mauler of the Common Earth element is a card that defies expectations. What begins as a versatile assassin with "Tank" traits for beginner players, transforms into a formidable warrior with a combination of abilities that make her a nightmare for enemy teams. Her "Sneak" ability makes her dangerous for back-row monsters, her Deflect makes her difficult to hit, and her Camouflage makes her the perfect answer for teams that rely on ranged attacks.

So if you're looking for a truly versatile card that can attack and defend, add her to your Earth deck—you won't regret having this common card.

With nothing further to add, until next time, "Splinterlords."
