Securing Our Waters: Steps Toward a Sustainable Future
The effects of climate change on our waters is not something that we can truly get rid off within a short period of time, but surely ,we can reduce it's effect while we work on a very healthy and sustainable future.
So our main discussion today will be focused on some key strategies on how we can mitigate Climate Change effect on our waters and work for a sustainable future.
Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions:
- Transition to Renewable Energy:
I intentionally mentioned this as the first step because I think it is the most crucial one. The burning of fussil fuels is not doing our climate any Good. We need to embrace renewable and clean energy line solar, wind , and hydro as they are environmental free.
Also , we need to Improve the efficiency of our energy by minimizing energy consumption and wasting. This can be achieved by the use of better insulation ,, efficient appliances and promote sustainable modes of appliances.
We can also add to this by protecting bour forest through afforestation and practicing sustainable agricultural .
- Improving Water Management :
We learnt that hotness of weather which is as a result of climate change in some areas can lead to drought, at this point, we need to have effective management if our waters.Rainwater harvesting ,low-flow toilets ,drip irrigation are some water efficient technologies that can lead to effective water conservation.
We can also go as far as treating waste water and then re using it for Maybe industrial purpose can also be helpful.
Lastly but not the least is to raise public awareness.Educate the general public in what climate change is all about, how it effects our Waters and environment, and how we can effectively manage the available water.
It is worth remembering that all levels of individuals need to heed to these actions. Although government and industry are the major role players here, individuals can also make a noticable Change if they can engage in water saving practices.
Although this seems to be a complex activity, but with time , persistence, and consistence, we can together crate a sustainable future for us an out future generations.
